Detective Pembleton jokingly says that Detectives Briscoe and Curtis were sent to them, once again, across the River Styx by Charon, who was the ferryman of Hades in Greek mythology that carried souls heading for the underworld across the river. However he pronounces Charon incorrectly, as most people do. Most people pronounce Charon "Chair-on" but the correct pronunciation is "Sha-rone". See more
