Roarke and the Ripper
27 August 2014 | by stones78See all my reviews

As I've stated on several other reviews of this show, there's one sappy story, and one darker story, with the latter being far better. I don't like Ken Berry very much, as he practically has the same tired fantasy as he had in a 1978 episode; he wants to be attractive to women. Yawn. This story is slightly better than that earlier segment, as it stars a few familiar faces in Carolyn Jones, and Lyle Waggoner. Stanley(Berry)wishes to be a gigolo, but eventually has second thoughts about using women, like any woman would want to be with this fool anyway, but it ends on a good note, although it seemed somewhat forced. The other, and better story has Lorraine Peters(Lynda Day George)writing about a book about the famous killer Jack the Ripper, played solidly by Victor Buono. The door and room that led from the island to London was pretty neat, and the foggy atmosphere, although on a set, was also quite creepy and effective. I do wish the segment ended on a better note, but this story was far better than the other one.
