Storyline

To get to their appointment with Degra on time, Enterprise must pass a subspace corridor which is guarded by the aggressive Kovaalans. Just about to make an attempt, Enterprise is stopped by Enterprise. Their captain, Lorian, tells them crossing the subspace corridor will put Enterprise 117 years back in time and that his crew all are descendants of the original crew. He wants to make some modifications to the ship, so the time shift will not happen. Written by Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)

Trivia

When Trip and Lorian are working in engineering (14:30), one of the tools that Trip takes from the toolbox and puts back is actually a Radio Shack decibel (or sound level) meter. It has a short cylindrical protrusion and upper curved edges. This carries on a tradition of using Radio Shack gadgets for Star Trek props. In the original series one of the props was a Radio Shack tape head demagnetizer - having a long, thin light-up wand of clear plastic so you could see into a dark area around recessed tape heads. Quotes

Captain Jonathan Archer: You almost crippled us. My mission would've been over.
Lorian: Your mission *is* over, Captain. You just won't accept it. I took the only logical course of action.
Captain Jonathan Archer: Attacking your ancestors doesn't sound very logical to me.

The Shadow Son
26 March 2017 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

Another intriguing episode continues the trek toward the Xindi council. Archer has been told that there is a corridor that will cause them to cut light years off their trip. As they approach in their distressed state, they meet another Enterprise. This is inhabited by their descendants. It seems that when Enterprise went through the corridor, they stepped into a time warp and went be 170 years. They actually set themselves and others. Apparently, they were stuck on the ship and a culture developed there. For example, the Captain of this ship is the son of Trip and T'Pol. They work together and that's where we are as we approach the last couple offerings.
