Trivia

Maureen McCormick was spaced out on drugs and went AWOL when they were ready to shoot this episode. The cast and crew sat around for hours and when someone finally got in contact with her, she claimed to have had the flu. Soldiering on, Marcia's lines were divided up among the other kids, Susan Olsen had to lip-sync her solo lines in "I Got the Music in Me," and they opted to just leave her voice on the soundtrack for "Consider Yourself." Geri Reischl spent the evening scrambling to learn "Ease on Down the Road" and Marcia's lines for the Pinocchio skit, but the next morning, a hush filled the soundstage when McCormick sauntered in. Producer Marty Krofft was so irate that he explosively reprimanded her in front of the entire cast and crew, who showed little sympathy after her shenanigans. McCormick later ruminated that Krofft's outburst was not uncalled for, but "that was the beginning of the variety hour being unpleasant." See more »
