Good acting and good script make for a good show!

A clan of bushwhackers jump Heath and intend to leave him for dead. Instead Daddy Cade (played by John Dehner) decides to take Heath back to the Barkley Ranch and see if they can get a reward pretending that they were the ones who found Heath and been nursing him back to health.

When they get to the Barkley Ranch house they are stunned to find that it is occupied by wealthy land-owners. So they pretend not only to have helped Heath but also very concerning about Heath's health.

Victoria, Audry, Silas and a one-armed ranch hand are the only people around. Seems the rest of the Barkley boys and ranch hands are on a cattle drive and will not be home for over a week. Daddy Cade plots this scheme where they will try to get as much money from Victoria as possible before killing all and taking expensive items from the house.

His scheme may fall apart when the only women of the clan, Allie Kay (played by Bat-girl Yvonne Craig) starts falling in love with the wounded Heath. She will have to choose between a new life style or going back to outback and provided for her brothers. And with that plot we get a episode that is worth watching on any day of the week.

I thought the acting made the entire episode. Barbara Stanwyck was again outstanding as the matriarch of the Barkley clan as she kept her cool under awkward situations. John Dehner was perfectly cast as the wild outback father of the strange clan that knew nothing but robbery and murder. Even Yvonne Craig was more than just a pretty face as she held up well against a host of good actors.

The story was entertaining and held the interest of the viewer. A good watch from the first season.

NOTE- At the end of the show, we get a rare treat as we see that Silas, in his blue robe, knows how to handle a gun.
