Trivia

This was the second of two episodes (the other being "The Long Shot Caper") in which Lt. Gilmore is "out of town" and is replaced by another police officer played by Richard X. Slattery (though the character names were different in each). As episodes sometimes aired out of production order, it's likely the two were filmed closer to each other during Byron Keith's apparent unavailability. See more »

Quotes

Jeff Spencer: Lieutenant, set up the stakeout but don't pick them up. If they're small fry and they had any part of it, we might scare the big ones away.
Lt. Chuck Brand: And you'd rather have the gems back than have us catching crooks.
Stuart Bailey: Why, Lieutenant!

An important job of security
18 July 2017 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

This story marks one of the few times that both Bailey and Spencer were working on the same case. It was an important job of security for a private by invitation only auction where a lot priceless items were being sold. But the unthinkable has happened and a valuable jewel is stolen. The guys are working overtime to catch the thief and make sure the firm's reputation isn't in the toilet. Highlighting in this story are Joanna Moore as a young socialite who has expensive tastes and over from France Marcel Hilliare playing a most non-Clouseau like inspector from the Surete most concerned with locating the missing gem. Good job of sleuthing from Efrem Zimbalist and Roger Smith.
