Maria do Carmo (Angelina Muniz) is a young woman and daughter of a fisherman (José de Valêncio) that sells her to the crook Rufino Xavier Monteiro (Luigi Picchi), who changes her name to Karina and prostitutes her. The also crook Lucas (Cláudio Cunha) unsuccessfully tries to convince Karina to leave Rufino and live with him in his farm. One day, Rufino plays poker with Lucas and two other players and without money, he bets Karina and loses the game. Karina refuses to go with Lucas, and Rufino beat up on her. Karina gets a revolver in the drawer and kills Rufino. Karina is sent to jail but the court-appointed lawyer Sheila (Rosina Malbousian) becomes her legal guardianship and Karina moves to Sheila's seaside house. The lonely Sheila and the abused Karina become close to each other and they develop a sexual relationship, but Lucas is still stalking Karina.
"Karina, Objeto do Prazer" is another erotic production from "Boca do Lixo" with references to two other successful films of the genre: the 1980 "Giselle", with the sequence of the horses, and "Mulher Objeto" of the same year. Directed by Jean Garret, the film is supported by a beautiful cinematography; a classy music score, highlighting the warm voice of Nina Simone when Karina and Sheila dance cheek-to-cheek on Karina twentieth-first birthday celebration; and the astonishing Angelina Muniz, one of the sexiest models of the 80's. The story is silly, with the usual perversions of this popular genre, but it is worthwhile watching to recall how hot Angelina Muniz was and one of the best works of Jean Garret. My vote is six.
