Mosques are dividing communities across Australia. Recently, council approval was given to extensions to the Roselands Mosque in the Canterbury-Bankstown area. Local resident are angry, citing increased traffic congestion, noise, neighbourhood alienation, and lack of consultation. There is also the fear mosques are breeding home-grown terrorists. The problems are only getting worse as councils are pressured by Islamic groups to approve more mosques in residential neighbourhoods.
A bogus Sydney fashion designer has been arrested after more victims came forward to police following a report on 'A Current Affair' last month, about him allegedly groping models. Plain clothed police officers swooped on Shardie Hourani, also known as Shardz Houranis, at a shopping centre, where he works as a menswear salesman. Hourani has been arrested on five charges of assault with acts of indecency. Models Dani and Tia claimed Hourani would touch them inappropriately during photo shoots.
The jet-setting Indian guru Prem Rawat who has followers called "Premies" lining up to kiss his feet, and his disciples that want to expand their operation in Australia. Now some of his former devotees say they feel deceived and they want authorities to investigate the charity which runs his events near Ipswich. There are allegations Rawat's foundation is misusing its charity status to run businesses to prop up their cult.
