Paula Morton look-alike Cindy West is said to be in The Perfect Position by Something Weird Video on their DVD-R reverse box cover. In reality, West is not in the film. Paula Morton is the one in the movie and is credited as Cindy Fisher which probably adds to the confusion. See more »

Comical porn based on serious Billy Wilder film
7 September 2010 | by lor_See all my reviews

Billy Wilder's fame rests on his classic comedies, but he made many brilliant serious films as well. One of the best of these, THE APARTMENT, is the inspiration for a silly but sexy hardcore porn effort, oddly titled THE PERFECT POSITION.

Also set in Manhattan, film is about hapless Jack (Jesse Winchester), whose blabbermouth co-worker Dean (David Dell) is always borrowing the keys to Jack's apartment, entertaining some lady friend there, and leaving a big mess for our hero to clean up.

Matters get even worse when their balding boss Sol (Jake Teague) overhears Dean and requests he get fixed up with a hot date at the apartment too. A somewhat who-cares? conclusion results when co-worker Anita (anonymous actress credited as "Henrietta Wheeling") makes a date with Dean only to stand him up and service Jack instead.

Though repetitive overplaying by Dell (who seems to have some brain damage, constantly repeating his ad libs, ad finitum) gets the movie off to a rocky start, it settles down to amusing yet stimulating XXX sex scenes. In particular, Teague and Dory Devon as his wife are very funny as an older couple who could use some spice in their life. Scenes of her being more interested in the glop showing on TV than her husband's physical attentions are very well-played.

Cheaply but effectively lensed, film suffers from an overabundance of tight closeups of genitalia at work, what mid-'70s fans required as their "money's worth". Also detracting is the amplified slurping and sucking sounds on the soundtrack, meant to sound erotic but seeming quite silly.

Filmmakers remain anonymous and the major fetish is anal sex, which is emphasized in nearly every sequence.
