Ewan McGregor Reveals The Most Satisfying Part Of Playing Obi-Wan Kenobi

McGregor is currently on the promotional trail for upcoming Shining sequel Doctor Sleep, and despite making the rounds in an effort to drum up some publicity for the high-profile horror flick, every interview brings the inevitable Obi-Wan questions. When you’re involved in one of the biggest franchises on the planet like Star Wars, it’s virtually a foregone conclusion that you’ll be asked about it anytime you do an interview,

The U.K.’s Film4 backs 10 to 12 features a year, meaning that its eight-strong lineup of world premieres at Toronto Intl. Film Festival see the curtain raised on a hefty chunk of its slate.

That’s fine by Film4 boss Daniel Battsek. “Toronto was elevated for me during my American experience; it was only once I was living there and working at Miramax that for me it became this legendary launching pad,” he says.

“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” had its world premiere at Toronto and that picture marked a change of tack by Film4, the film arm of British pubcaster Channel 4, whereby it took a larger stake in a select number of bigger-budget movies. These sit along more modestly-budgeted fare and films from first-timers, which Film4 is also mandated to support.

Doctor Sleep Is Rated-r for Being a Disturbing & Bloody Sequel to The Shining

Doctor Sleep Is Rated-r for Being a Disturbing & Bloody Sequel to The Shining
We're in for a bloody, disturbing ride later this year as Doctor Sleep is officially going to be R-rated. This serves as a sequel to The Shining. Both Stephen King's novel and Stanley Kubrick's movie (which King is notably not a big fan of) are very highly regarded, so doing a sequel this many years later is a risky endeavor. At the very least, as confirmed by director Mike Flanagan, the movie won't be pulling any punches.

Mike Flanagan, who previously adapted Stephen King's Gerald's Game for Netflix, took to Twitter to reveal that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has handed out an R-rating to Doctor Sleep. This was also confirmed by the MPAA's official website. Per Flanagan's tweet, it earned its rating for all the right reasons. Here's what Flanagan had to say about it.

"Doctor Sleep has officially been rated R by the MPAA for 'disturbing and violent content,

Ewan McGregor’s Disdain For Star Wars Casts Doubt On His Obi-Wan Return

According to the latest reports doing the rounds on the internet, Ewan McGregor, who played the wise and youthful version of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels after inheriting the character from veteran actor Alec Guinness, is making a return to his most famous role in a Disney Plus show centering around the Jedi master.

McGregor is reportedly in the final stages of sealing the deal with Disney, even though there’s been no official statement from the Mouse House or the actor himself. What we do have, however, is a history of McGregor’s remarks about his Star Wars stint during various talk shows and interviews, and based on those statements, some fans believe that returning to the franchise isn’t something that he’s particularly interested in doing.

Here’s what the actor said in a 2014 interview:

“I’ve never been to one of the conventions. The

Ewan McGregor to Return as Obi Wan Kenobi in Disney Plus Series
Ewan McGregor is in talks to return as Jedi master Obi Wan Kenobi in a series for Disney Plus, Variety has confirmed.

McGregor previously played the character in the three “Star Wars” prequels “The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones,” and “Revenge of the Sith.” There had been talk for years that McGregor would return in an Obi Wan standalone film, but those plans were reportedly put on hold following the unsuccessful roll out of “Star Wars” standalone film “Solo.”
