Craig Ferguson-Hosted Game Show ‘The Hustler’ Lands Series Order At ABC

  • Deadline
ABC has handed a series order to The Hustler, a new mystery-based game showhosted by Craig Ferguson. The series from All3Media-backed Studio Lambert is set to begin production this fall, with an airdate to be announced later.

Based on an original format by British TV and radio host Richard Bacon, each episode follows five contestants as they collaborate to answer a series of trivia questions, with the goal of building a collective prize pot that increases with each correct answer. The catch? One of the five contestants, the Hustler, already knows the answers but must keep their identity a secret in order to have a shot at winning the grand prize. Throughout each episode, two contestants are eliminated anonymously by the Hustler, leaving three remaining contestants – the Hustler and two others – who must collectively decide who they think the Hustler is. If they are right, they share the prize pot.

Charmed Reunion Video: Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs Face a Sisterly Crisis on Grey's Anatomy — Watch
“We’re sisters.” Those two little words may not mean much to the average Grey’s Anatomy fan, but when spoken by Holly Marie Combs in reference to Alyssa Milano, the results are nothing short of magical. The former Charmed actresses are guest-starring on Thursday’s episode of Grey’s (ABC, 8/7c) as a pair of sisters who arrive at Pac North to check on their other sibling (who is played by neither Shannen Doherty nor Rose McGowan, so don’t even bother hoping for it).

ABC has released a sneak peek of the actresses’ first scene together, during which

TV’s Most Memorable Dance Sequences, According to Critics

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.

This week’s question: What’s your favorite dance sequence on TV ever?

Alan Sepinwall (@sepinwall), Rolling Stone

Look, there are surely more emotionally moving options than the one I’ve chosen. Mac’s interpretive dance about his sexuality from the last “It’s Always Sunny” finale was among the most remarkable and unexpected moments of recent TV. The year before, “Better Things” wonderfully concluded its season with Sam, her mom, and two of her daughters recreating the video from Christine and the Queens’ “Tilted” as a birthday present for Max. Anyone who votes for Sasha’s “Istanbul/Constantinople” dance from “Bunheads” here is absolutely right to do so — a great piece of choreography that was also revelatory about a character designed to be tough to love. There’s Pete and Trudy

Cynthia Watros replaces Michelle Stafford on ‘General Hospital’ as the casting merry-go-round continues
Soap fans were surprised when it was announced that Michelle Stafford would be leaving “General Hospital” to return to her role as Phyllis on “The Young and the Restless.” That meant the current Phyllis, Gina Tognoni, will be leaving. But what about that vacancy on “Gh”? Stafford had played Nina Reeves on the ABC series for the last five years, and now “Gh” has announced that it’s swapping one Emmy winner for another: Cynthia Watros is picking up where Stafford left off.

With only four soap operas left on the air, trading talent back and forth isn’t uncommon, but this has been a busy few weeks of actor switches, and this is another significant coup. Watros comes to “Gh” with an impressive daytime resume of her own. She’s most famous for her role on “Guiding Light” as the villainous Annie Dutton, who she played from 1994 to 1998, winning

Perrette’s character is named Jackie, described as a tough, sharp-witted, loving but struggling single mom with a 9-year-old son. The manager of a bar, Jackie is feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a tool box and an acetylene torch.
