The adventures of Mickey Spillane's tough-talking, brawling, skirt-chasing private detective Mike Hammer, who's always ready to use his fists on a "mug" or his charm on a "skirt" to get the case solved.
A young girl is kidnapped and there is an attempt on the daughter of an well-known actress. The kidnapper then turns up dead. Hammer is hired to protect the girl and travels to Los Angeles, where she is then kidnapped.
A high-stakes poker game is robbed and Pat intervenes as the thieves make their getaway. He is shot in the back and then framed as a drug dealer. Hammer makes it his job to clear Pat and find out who nearly killed him.
As a long time Mike Hammer fan (books, films, TV shows) it is great to see a Mike Hammer who really can turn heads in the street. The concept of an aging Stacy Keach as incredibly sexy was about as credible as James T Kirk the love interest. Pamela Anderson is equally great as Velda and the Miami locations are spectacular.
The only faults I could find for this movie are the absolutely predictable plot (always a Mike Hammer short coming) and the enormous number of scantily clad babes and lame jokes about "jugs" etc.
Why did nobody ever turn this into a series?
