Storyline

Serial chronicling the lives of the residents of Ramsay Street in the fictional Australian suburb of Erinsborough. When the series began, it revolved around three families - the Ramsays, the Robinsons and the Clarkes, living at no. 24, no. 26 and no. 28 respectively. Nowadays, the scope of the programme is much wider and only one member of the original families remains in the street. The show reached a watershed in 1997 when the last remaining original character, Helen Daniels, died. The departure of her relatives and arrival of the Scully family marked the start of a new era for Neighbours. There's never a dull moment in Ramsay Street, and despite their many feuds, the residents will always - in the words of the show's theme tune - "be there for one another". In 2004, American cable channel Oxygen picked the show up. Due to low ratings, the show was discontinued after six weeks. The program returned to the United States in 2014, this time on streaming service Hulu. In September 2015, Hulu lost the rights to the show and episodes were taken off the site. See more »

End Of Another Season *spoiler for British viewers*
10 December 2004 | by mp01See all my reviews

The 20th season of Australia's longest running soap went to air last night. In typical cliffhanger action we were left with the characters' main gathering place, Lassiter's,ablaze. In what has to be the biggest season-ending twist in Neighbors history, it is discovered the culprit is none other than original Ramsay Street Resident, Paul Robinson. (Stefan Dennis)

Neighbors continues to be a solid source for guilty pleasure on Australian television. Sure,it can be argued that some of the story lines aren't realistic, the daily trials and tribulations of Ramsay Street's denizens, continues to entertain. It sure beats the alternative boring Current Affairs shows on rival networks in that timeslot.

The daily happenings of Australia's most famous cul de sac will continue to fill Australian and British television screens for another few years yet.
