George Werner: [Richie stumbles out of his room, obviously stoned... George and Carol are watching from the dinner table] That promise you and your buddies made me didn't last long, did it?
Richie Werner: What we do is no business of yours.
George Werner: Well, then I'll let the police handle it.
[Richie tries to walk past George, who blocks him in]
Richie Werner: [snarling] Get out of my way...

Alternate Versions

The original NBC telecast, of The Death of Richie in January, 1977, had Richie scream as his father kills him with the shotgun. The NBC Censors thought this was too intense, and edited the scream from all subsequent showings. This sound-byte is not available on any DVD prints or current editions of the movie and is presumed "lost", to the point where today's audiences (and even those who saw reruns of the film on television) are completely unaware that such sound-byte did occur in the film. A super movie
10 November 2003 | by hutcj@perkinscoie.comSee all my reviews

I have seen this movie many times. (I recorded it off TV). It really does show what dope can do to you and your family. If you ever get a chance to see it SEE IT!!. It'll be worth every minute. Benson and Gazzara give off true Oscar performances. They would have got my vote as best actor and supporting if it had been a theatrical released movie and up for nominations.
