The show was originally banned in Boston. The Boston ABC affiliate did not want to air the show at first because they thought it was about busing, a very heated topic at the time. They eventually ran the show with no problems. See more »
Throughout out the series, it's clear that the actors/actresses portraying teenagers are actually in their 20s+. This is done as to not interfere with the schooling of real teenagers and to give the general viewing audience who are teenagers themselves someone they can look up to. See more »
Funny, entertaining show that will always be a classic.
I'm 17 years old now, and a few years ago when Nick-At-Nite did the revival, showing every episode of "Welcome Back, Kotter", I was immediately hooked! It was so funny, I tuned in every night they showed it. The characters are all so stupid, you grow to love them :o) Definitely a great show for all ages!
