During a six-month trial period for the newly-created Texas Rangers as a law-enforcement agency, every effort is made to discredit them. Cattleman Gary Conway resists the efforts of his Ranger friend Tom Banner (James Brown) to join the Texas Rangers. But when Conway's kid brother Chuck (Hal Landon) is killed by the renegades, he joins the Rangers seeking revenge.
