Video Game Review – Star Wars Battlefront II

Shaun Munro reviews Star Wars Battlefront II…

Though it was easy to be optimistic about EA and Dice’s follow-up to 2015’s enjoyable-yet-malnourished Star Wars Battlefront reboot, the end result is one of the most depressingly, dispiritingly botched sequels to a hit Aaa game this generation. From its infuriating, predatory progression system to a campaign that fails to live up to EA’s chest-thumping hype, Battlefront II is a stylishly efficient shooter with remarkably little behind its slick visage.

The previous game was lauded for its stringent adherence to the tone and aesthetic of Star Wars while heavily criticised for its piecemeal suite of content, and EA’s marketing push ahead of this sequel’s release was incredibly effective in arguing that the follow-up was going to be a content-rich apology for its predecessor’s foibles.

Sadly, that’s not really the case at all, and EA’s decision not

Strike Vector Ex Review: True Aerial Superiority

Strike Vector Ex scratches a particular itch that I've had for almost a year. After last fall's Star Wars Battlefront, I became incredibly addicted to the Fighter Squadron game mode. Something about flying combat sorties in zero-g, turning on a dime, and blasting enemies out of the sky like they were helpless flies really ignited something in me. And then I moved on, yet still I yearned for that kind of aerial combat. There was a void in my life. And thanks to developer Ragequit, that void has been filled. They came through with a solid flight-shooter that has satisfied my craving and given me more things to shoot out of the sky.

Strike Vector Ex is a hybrid of sorts. Players take command of a ship, called a Vector, that can also serve as a hovering -- and lumbering -- mech of sorts. With the tap of the L

Star Wars: EA Dice on Battlefront Dlc and Battlefront 2

Matthew Byrd Jul 21, 2016

Does the future of Battlefront include an expanded single-player offline mode?

Considering it wasn't that long ago that Star Wars fans assumed we wouldn't be getting any more Battlefront games at all, it's certainly heartwarming to hear that developer EA Dice is already looking forward to a bright tomorrow for the acclaimed multiplayer shooter franchise.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Star Wars Battlefront director Niklas Fegraeus opened up about the future of 2015's Star Wars Battlefront and the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2. As we had previously reported, that future will include the upcoming edition of a skirmish mode that will finally allow Battlefront fans to play the game offline against bots across various difficulty modes.

According to Fegraeus, EA Dice is well aware of the demand surrounding such a mode.

"It's something the fans have been talking about for a very long time,” said Fegraeus. "It's been on the forums,

We’ll kick things off this week by talking about Darth Vader in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It was reported last year that The Sith Lord would feature in the movie and then there were some reports that said Hayden Christensen – who played Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel Trilogy – would be reprising his role. We can now confirm this is not the case, and Vader will in fact be played by Spencer Wilding, a British stunt actor who has worked on Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who and Batman Begins. We actually heard this story in the summer of last year, but waited

Star Wars Battlefront’s February Update Has Gone Live

Star Wars Battlefront developer Dice has been making some rather substantial and extensive changes under the game’s hood for its February update and frankly, we’re not sure where to start – the list is freaking massive.

Before we start dissecting all of the little, large and much-needed changes though, you’re probably more interested in the new content that’s been added with the patch.

First up is the new Twilight on Hoth map that’s been added to several modes, including Walker Assault, Drop Zone and Heroes vs. Villains. Judging by the map name, expect to be battling it out as the Rebels or Empire in the freezing midnight blizzard that sweeps through the snow-covered planet when the sun (or is it suns?) sets.

Continuing the chilly theme, Survival in the Ice Caves is a new map added to Survival Missions, and the

We’re kicking things off this week by looking – get this – past Star Wars: Episode IX. When Disney first announced they’d purchased the rights to make more Star Wars movies, they initially announced a new trilogy to take us up to 2019, which was then followed up announcements for spin-off (or Anthology) movies in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (with rumours of a Boba Fett one in there too). It was assumed by the fanbase that this new trilogy would then mark the end of Star Wars. No so, says Disney’s Bob Iger.

Star Wars Battlefront: 9 Tips To Win On Every Mode

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still annihilating the box office, we unwrapped Star Wars: Everything for Christmas (seriously, if you need several hundred Kylo Ren mugs my house is basically a retailer), and Star Wars: Battlefront is still looking like a fine addition to the game library, with its multiplayer system proving to be exceedingly fun.

The game was released to huge fanfare after months of drooling over a set of immense trailers and teasers. The first impressions were that the gameplay was tremendous, the graphics spectacular, and the Star Wars factor was astounding. In 2016, I still think that’s all true. An influx of Christmas gamers means that not only do we have more friends to conquer the galaxy alongside, but there are thousands more metaphorical womp rats to bullseye.

Rounding up a handful of friends is the best way to play Battlefront, but there

Video Game Review – Star Wars Battlefront

Tom Powter reviews Star Wars Battlefront…

Star Wars Battlefront is both parts a stunning recreation of the much-loved original trilogy of films, and a disappointingly barebones first-person shooter. It’s interesting to see just how true to the films developer EA Dice’s vision for the game was – the world they have created is perhaps the most convincingly Star Wars has ever been brought to life in a video game before. On the larger maps, full-scale war unfolds, with Tie fighters screaming overhead amidst a flurry of red and green laser fire. The familiar hum of a lightsaber signals death for all those in the vicinity, and the game world encompasses everything that fans adore about the franchise. The game’s fundamentals betray it however, and beneath the glossy sheen, there’s a very limited experience to be had.

Let’s start with the good, and there definitely is plenty to commend here.

Star Wars Battlefront Review

Booting up Star Wars Battlefront for the first time was a truly special moment. Familiar logos adorn the screen, while John Williams’ timeless music begins to play, and it finally dawned on me that the day has come. It’s been a long wait to see the Star Wars franchise return to full form, and while the upcoming The Force Awakens is a few months out, Battlefront serves as an excellent distraction until the big day arrives. Granted, I’d be doing a disservice to Battlefront and developer Dice by dismissing their newest title as another cog in the giant marketing machine that is the Star Wars franchise. In fact, Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most thrilling shooters I’ve played in recent memory.

Without a doubt, Star Wars Battlefront is the most polished game that Dice has put out. Menus are cleanly laid out, there’s minimal loading times and hitches,

Dice Details How To Control Millennium Falcon, Slave I In Star Wars Battlefront

After much deliberation and speculation regarding their inclusion, Dice finally made it official late last week that, yes, Star Wars Battlefront would include a roster of Hero characters beyond simply the father-son duo of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Specifically, the studio has rendered the likes of Han Solo, Leio Organa and the malevolent Emperor Palpatine, with players getting the chance to control either hero or villain throughout the course of an in-game skirmish.

But what of the star vehicles? Since the first gameplay clip for the Fighter Squadron mode debuted online, budding fans have wondered whether the Millennium Falcon and Boba Fett’s Slave I ship will feature in Battlefront. We’re pleased to report that both will be included in this specific, airborne game mode, and today’s Dice blog delved into the finer details about unlocking both of the fan-favorite ships.

“Should you spot the Millennium Falcon

Star Wars: Battlefront - Han Solo, Leia and Palpatine abilities detailed

EA details the character abilities we'll see as we play Han, Leia or Palpatine in Star Wars: Battlefront...

We're already preparing our best gravelly "Fully operational battle station" Emperor Palpatine impression, as EA reveals details of three additional characters in Star Wars: Battlefront. As you've probably gathered, they're household names from the Star Wars-verse: on the side of all that's good in the galaxy, there's Leia Organa and Han Solo. On the side of evil, the cackling, scheming Emperor Palpatine in his fright make-up.

They join the characters already announced - Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Darth Vader - as the six heroes and villains we'll be able to briefly control at certain moments in the game. Each will have their own unique ability; Luke with his Force Pushes, Sabre Rushes and Smouldering Sulk ability (we may have made the last one up), Vader with
