Trivia

Sheilah Graham reported that Ann Sheridan had an infection in one ear during production, and during the final shots of the film, could only be photographed from one side. See more »

Goofs

During the trial, the D.A. remarks to the jury that the defendant did not testify. Since a defendant in a criminal case has a constitutional right not to testify, a prosecutor cannot make any reference to the exercise of that right. The judge would have declared a mistrial even if the defense lawyer (as in the movie) did not move for one. See more »

Quotes

Police Lieutenant: I wish I knew what was in this note - or who burned it. Do you think he was being blackmailed?
Dr. Joel Merriam: [a bit taken aback] Blackmailed?
Police Lieutenant: Yes.
Dr. Joel Merriam: What would anybody have on him? He led such an exemplary life.
Police Lieutenant: That's the way a blackmailer works, doctor. He finds out something nobody else knows, and then sells it for a price.

Would You Keep Your Mouth Shut...?
7 December 2000 | by Randy_DSee all my reviews

Ann Sheridan gives an effective performance as the title character who has not had much luck when it comes to love. Unfortunately her luck only gets worse.

Kent Smith's character Dr. Talbot completely turns his life inside out and upside down in order to be with Ann Sheridan. (If there is anyone worth turning your life inside out for, it's Ann Sheridan ;-).

A worthy entry in the Film Noir canon, Nora Prentiss reveals two characters desperate to find happiness...but at what cost?

This film also has one of my favorite lines from a movie poster:
