Storyline

Conceited war correspondent Steve Kimball, desperate to get back to the USA from occupied Paris, reluctantly agrees to chaperone a troupe of stranded, teenaged hepcat entertainers. Plus redheaded Bridget, not a real member of the group...just stranded (and the 16th person on 15 tickets). But Steve has a use for her: to sneak his stories past censorship in "love code." Their shipboard dormitory is also shared by adult glamour girl Kay. Can the kids enlist Kay to keep Steve out of their hair? Can all sorts of complications be far behind? Micro-musical of little interest
17 June 2006 | by vandino1See all my reviews

This is just a throwaway B-film from RKO, and that's easy to figure from the cast listed. Really, you know you're in minor film territory when the star of the film is Jack Haley. And Haley is no star, sorry to say. He's an unappealing amalgam of Pat O'Brien and Alan Mowbray, and plays a thoroughly pompous and obnoxious character that sinks what little chance the film had of being entertaining. Certainly there is little story, other than Haley the gaseous war correspondent bringing a group of young American repatriates back to America... and this being a musical these youngsters are singer/dancers. It's directed by Anthony Mann, but this is earlier in his career when he was still hacking his way through studio assignments. Honestly, what could he do with drivel like this? Haley is a terrible drag on the film, yet there is the talented and beautiful Anne Jeffreys and the likable and energetic Marcy McGuire trying to make something out of what they're stuck with. There is also some uncredited bit parts from Olin Howland, Grady Sutton, and Lawrence Tierney. That's all folks.
