Bright and breezy musical
7 January 2018 | by malcolmgswSee all my reviews

As one of the two reviewers referred to in the previous post can I say what an excellent review has been posted.Lupino died young and his films have been forgotten.I first saw them at the BFI South bank over 40 years ago,and then again on Channel4 about 30 years ago.The songs are very catchy.I am surprised that none became standards. It is remarkable that the film plays so well, not two that's being the fact that there were 5credited writers. An excellent cast includes music hall comedians Will Fyfe and Harry Tate, plus the redoutable Bertha Belmore. It is well made if not quite of the standard of comparable Hollywood musicals. However to be fair they had far bigger budgets.
