Emily Blunt to Star in Disney's Mary Poppins Sequel

Variety reports that actress Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star in Disney's sequel to Mary PoppinsJohn DeLuca and Marc Platt will serve as producers on the film with Rob Marshall directing. Sources say the new film will take place 20 years after the original 1964 film, Mary Poppins, which starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The story follows a nanny who comes to work for a bankers unhappy family in pre-World War I England.

Disney has found success adapting a number of classic animated films such as Alice In Wonderland and Cinderella. The studio just completed production on a live-action Beauty And The Beast film starring Emma Watson set for release next year and is also developing a 'Cruella Deville' origin film starring Emma Stone.

Blunt is currently filming 20th Century Fox's Girl On A Train film adaptation and has Universal Pictures' Snow White-prequel, The Hunstman: Winter's War starring Charlize Theron,
