Joseph Baxter Oct 9, 2019

Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, starring singer Halle Bailey as Ariel, will be directed by Rob Marshall.

The Little Mermaid is coming back to theaters, this time in live-action form, as part of Disney’s deluge of live-action movie remakes of its iconic animated classics. Of course, the move is hardly the biggest surprise in the world, with the year 2019 alone yielding A-list releases Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Dumbo, The Lion King and Aladdin, with Mulan set arrive in March 2020, and 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella arriving in May 2021, giving its prolific corporate tentpole neighbors at Marvel a run for their money.

Halle Bailey will embrace life under the sea, and later on the surface, to star as Ariel. This is a major break for the singer/actress, who is part of the cast of Freeform’s Grown-ish and is one-half of the R&b act,

Blindspotting Star Daveed Diggs is in Talks To Join Disney's The Little Mermaid

Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Blindspotting) is currently in talks to join Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. If he takes the part, he will end up voicing the role of Sebastian, who is the Jamaican crab advisor to King Triton who watches over his daughter, Ariel.

If things work out and he’s cast, he will join the previously cast Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. There’s also Javier Bardem, who is looking to possibly take on the role of King Triton. As for Prince Eric, Cameron Cuffe and Jonah Hauer-King have both screen-tested for the role.

With Lin-Manuel Miranda as a producer on the film, if Diggs is cast it will reunite the two talents who worked together on the Broadway stage production of Hamilton. Rob Marshall is set to direct the film from a screenplay by David Magee.

Harry Styles Explains Why He Turned Down The Little Mermaid

After a hectic few days back in August, we finally learned that despite all those reports saying otherwise, teen-heartthrob Harry Styles will not be a part of The Little Mermaid.

While numerous outlets claimed that the former One Direction singer would be playing Ariel’s love interest, The Wrap finally set the record straight last month, telling us that Styles had actually “respectfully declined” the role. That’s fair enough, but it does beg the question of why he didn’t want to get involved.

After all, Styles has shown an interest in furthering his acting career in recent years and this would’ve been a great gig for the pop star to take on. It turns out, though, that his music is still the most important thing to him. Speaking in a recent interview, Harry explained the following about his close brush with The Little Mermaid.

“It was discussed,

Seth Rogen’s ‘Good Boys’ Is Not Your Typical Coming Of Age Comedy – Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, And Brady Noon Shine In A Movie They Are Not Allowed To Watch

Good Boys is a hilarious coming of age comedy directed by Gene Stupnitsky about three 12-year-old boys who skip school and end up on an adventure that involves encounters with drugs, sex, and frat boys. Hilariously young actors Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams, and Brady Noon play Max, Lucas, and Thor in this extravaganza. The boys plan to secretly borrow Max's father's beloved drone to spy on his teenage neighbor so he can learn how to kiss for an upcoming middle school party, aka "kissing party." They end up losing the drone, causing them to skip school the next day to go find it before Max's father, played by Will Forte, comes home. The film portrays their hilarious discovery to new adult concepts grouped in one chaotic day. It's "wildly raunchy" but could also be perceived as ironically educational and even wholesome in some parts, creating a good balance.
