‘Replicas’ Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Keanu Reeves, Alice Eve, Emily Alyn Lind, Thomas Middleditch, John Ortiz, Emjay Anthony, Aria Lyric Leabu, Nyasha Hatendi, Amber Rivera | Written by Stephen Hamel, Chad St. John | Directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff

Replicas, directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, stars Keanu Reeves as a scientist who, in the midst of bringing consciousness to A.I., loses his wife and three kids in a tragic car accident that results in an obsession to collide his personal life with his work and be reunited with the family he lost. The concept is engaging but the execution in Replicas is sadly incredibly poor with a flat narrative.

The screenplay from writers Stephen Hamel and Chad St. John is condensed to trope after trope and only the final scene leaves any form of intrigue, but it comes far too late with lacklustre uneventful proceedings before. The plot itself is mildly interesting with emotionally compelling rhythm and

Nacho Vigalondo on Embracing TV and Making a ‘Lost Highway’ Homage For Hulu

Nacho Vigalondo on Embracing TV and Making a ‘Lost Highway’ Homage For Hulu
The director of this year’s most unconventional Christmas special wasn’t inspired by any of the season’s trappings. Instead, he took the job so he could pay homage to David Lynch.

“Pooka!”, the latest installment of the Blumhouse-produced Hulu film series “Into the Dark,” features Nyasha Hatendi as an actor who gets in over his head when he gets a job performing as Pooka, a terrifying character for children who has inspired comparisons to Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty.

When reading the script, Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo told IndieWire, “the movie that came to my mind instantly was my favorite feature film — ‘Lost Highway,’ by David Lynch. I felt like, okay, this is like a ‘Lost Highway’ cover somehow.”

Without going too deeply into spoilers, this was because of a big twist near the end of the script that led to the rest of the story being told from a much more subjective viewpoint.

‘Into the Dark’: Hulu’s Insane Holiday Horror Movie Helps Explain America’s Mascot Fixation

When the Philadelphia Flyers officially unveiled the team’s new mascot in September, the googly-eyed orange monster quickly became one of Twitter’s fiercest obsessions. Now, more than three months later, the creature known as “Gritty” has launched a thousand memes and the social media phenom shows no signs of stopping. (He just graced the cover of Artforum’s year-end issue.)

The internet’s collective interest seems driven by a series of unanswerable questions: Where did he come from? Was he born or made? Does Gritty actually ascribe to gendered pronouns? Was he born in the sewers under a hockey stadium? What is Gritty? Despite a cyclone of reporting on the mascot — some serious, some very serious — his genesis remains a thing of legend. However, the most recent installment of Hulu’s “Into the Dark” series may offer some much-needed answers.

“Pooka” is not a Gritty biopic; it was conceived,

Another New Trailer for Sci-Fi Film 'Replicas' Starring Keanu Reeves

"There is a reason human cloning is banned." Entertainment Studios has debuted a third (and likely final) trailer for the sci-fi thriller titled Replicas, starring Keanu Reeves as a mad scientists who tries to figure out how to bring back his family after they are killed in a car accident. He eventually tries to clone them but we all know how that turns out. The first trailer for this showed up last fall, almost a year ago, and then the film just disappeared for a while. Waiting in limbo until recently. They dropped another new trailer a few months ago, and now there's a release date - January 2019. That's quite a delay. The full cast includes Alice Eve, Thomas Middleditch, Emily Alyn Lind, John Ortiz, Emjay Anthony, and Nyasha Hatendi. At least this film finally has a solid release date, but I still don't think anyone is going to go see it.

Replicas Poster Brings Keanu Reeves Back to the World of Sci-Fi

Replicas Poster Brings Keanu Reeves Back to the World of Sci-Fi
A new poster for Keanu Reeves' Replicas has been released. The poster is leading to hope that a release date will be announced soon. The first trailer for Replicas arrived last October, and we didn't get a second trailer until last month, nearly a year later. The poster looks pretty intriguing and is reminiscent of many old sci-fi DVD covers from the early 2000s, which is not a bad thing. I, Robot comparisons are sure to be made after checking out the poster as well.

Keanu Reeves stars in Replicas as Will Foster, who is described as a daring synthetic biologist. Foster is on a mission to bring back his family, who were killed in a car accident, using new cloning technology. The trailer showed Foster transferring a brain dead man's thoughts to the body of a robot, which doesn't end well. In the process, he violates all possible laws and principles,

New Trailer for Long Lost Sci-Fi Film 'Replicas' Starring Keanu Reeves

"Standby to initiate neural imprint. All functions: go." Entertainment Studios has revealed another official trailer for the sci-fi thriller titled Replicas, starring Keanu Reeves as a mad scientists who tries to figure out how to bring back his family after they are killed in a car accident. He eventually tries to clone them but we all know how that turns out. The first trailer for this showed up last fall, almost a year ago, and after an appearance at the New York Comic-Con this film dropped off the schedule. There's still no release date, but it looks like they're planning to finally release it sometime soon. The full cast includes Alice Eve, Thomas Middleditch, Emily Alyn Lind, John Ortiz, Emjay Anthony, and Nyasha Hatendi. Unfortuantely this doesn't look any better than it did last year, perhaps trying to mix too many concepts in one big movie. Here's the newest official
