Natalie Mendoza Forgives Harvey Weinstein

  • TMZ
[[tmz:video id="0_o3nirofk"]] Natalie Mendoza says she forgives Harvey Weinstein for his alleged sexual assault on her. We got the Australian actress Wednesday at Lax and asked if she'd forgiven him for what she claims he did to her during a 2002 script meeting -- allegedly lunging at her and groping her, before she threatened to punch him if he didn't lay off. Surprisingly, she does -- and her explanation is interesting. Sounds like she thinks society is partially to blame for Harvey's misdeeds,

Sundance Midnight Memories: The Descent (2006)

  • DailyDead
[Welcome back, readers! With the 2017 Sundance Film Festival beginning this week, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the great midnight movies that have come out of the fest over the years. Be sure to check back here each day this week for more Midnight Memories from Daily Dead!]

Last January marked ten years since Neil Marshall’s The Descent was screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Over a decade after it was featured in the Park City at Midnight lineup, The Descent is almost universally considered a modern horror classic, which is unfortunate for yours truly because until recently, I’d never actually seen it. But after finally venturing into this cave, I am happy to say that this is one of those rare movies that completely lives up to the hype.

For those unfamiliar with the basics, The Descent follows six women as they go on a spelunking trip in the North Carolina stretch of the Appalachian Mountains. A year before, one of the group members, Sarah (Shauna Macdonald), lost both her husband and her daughter in a car accident, and her friend Juno (Natalie Mendoza) sees this as an opportunity to bond in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The Descent Redefined Women in Horror Movies

Hannah Bonner Aug 4, 2019

The Descent remains one of the scariest, most inventive horror movies of the 21st century... all with a cast of kick-ass women.

Neil Marshall’s horror film The Descent stands as something of an anomaly for aficionados of both feminist and horror cinema. In a genre often populated with overtly sexual female protagonists who are, as The Cabin in the Woods ironically points out, either killed off first (but not before we are privy to a little tits and ass) or maternal figures—think The Ring, Mama, The Exorcist, and most recently The Babadook—the women we see in horror films are often polarized opposites. They are either the virgin mother or the whore.

Yet, Marshall’s cult classic rejects these pop culture stereotypes and imbues his heroines with biceps, bravery, and a finely tuned bullshit detector.

The film follows six long-time friends as they reunite a

Thn’s HalloweenFest Day 20: The Descent

Director: Neil Marshall

Cast: Shaunna MacDonald, Natalie Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone

Plot: When a group of adventure seeking girlfriends go caving in an unexplored region they get more than they bargained for, uncovering a new species of cave dwelling creature perfectly adapted for the dark. That’ll teach ‘em for leaving the safety of the kitchen.

Horror Highlights: The Crawlers are one of horror’s most innovative monsters of the past 20 years and a truly fantastic conception. Neither a ridiculous mystical/mythical creature nor some hench retarded kid in a hockey mask, the Crawlers are an evolutionary-sensical animal that has remained undiscovered until now. The claustrophobic and pitch blackness of the caves draws upon a primal fear within us all and is a perfect setting for tense horror.

Best Scare: The Crawlers’ first appearance is a master class in creating the perfect horror moment – understated

Ten of Horror Cinema's Most Badass Ladies
The role of women in horror films has always been a hot topic for debate. Some argue that horror films marginalize women and paint them as hypersexual beings with no depth. The opposing argument asserts that the existence of a "Final Girl" in most horror films is a testament to female empowerment, and that horror films celebrate women and their role in the cinematic universe. There is merit to both sides of the argument, but we're more interested in spotlighting some standout female characters in genre film who have positively portrayed women, showcased them as being just as tough (or more so) than their male counterparts, and challenged some of the stereotypes attached to women in film. Here are ten of our favorites: Alice in Resident Evil Alice is a pioneer for ass-kicking ladies. She's one of a select few female heroines in an action franchise – albeit an action, horror,

The Show Must Go On!

New York — The Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" will be performed as scheduled Friday night, a day after an actor playing the comic book hero was badly injured during the special effects-laden show. Producers blamed human error and the union representing actors vowed to investigate.

"Tonight's performance will go on as scheduled. The technical elements of the show are all in good working order, and we can confirm that equipment malfunction was not a factor in the incident," said Rick Miramontez, a show spokesman.

The injured actor, Daniel Curry, suffered an injury during the Thursday night performance, which was immediately halted. The actor was at Bellevue Hospital on Friday in stable condition with a serious leg injury.

Curry is a graduate of the Laguardia School of Performing Arts – the so-called "Fame" school – and appeared in an episode of "Smash" and toured with the "Man In The Mirror" Michael Jackson Tribute tour.

'Spider-Man' Stuntman: I Suffered Concussion, Whiplash, Holes In My Knees

New York -- A stuntman who claims he suffered a concussion, whiplash and two holes in his knees while performing as the comic book hero in Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" has asked producers to turn over any relevant information as he weighs pursuing a negligence lawsuit.

The stuntman, Richard Kobak, claims in a series of papers filed earlier this year in state Supreme Court that he suffered the leg injuries in 2010 while filling in for another injured stuntman at the most expensive show in Broadway history.

He alleges that the rigging he used for the show's aerial acrobatics wasn't recalibrated for him and, as a result, he made 70 hard landings on stage during performances and rehearsals. He says the hard landings created a 1.4-millimeter hole in his right knee and a 9-millimeter hole in his left knee.

He also alleges that a computer program controlling one of his

The news surrounding Hollywood's annual TV pilot season has heated up in recent weeks with the casting announcements of not one, but three "Twilight" stars. It's hard for us to think about life beyond the fifth and final Twi-film, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," but it's clear that the actors are thinking about life after the films that made them household names.

This week's "Twilight" Tuesday is dedicated to Ashley Greene, Rachelle Lefevre and Billy Burke, along with any other "Twilight" stars who make an appearance on the small screen in the coming months or years.

Coincidentally enough, Greene has signed on to play another Alice, this time in the ABC drama "Americana." The show revolves around a well-known family fashion

Once Upon a Time’s Emilie De Ravin in Americana

  • Boomtron
Now here is a series that could be a winner. Americana is a ritzy clothing line run by a powerful, wealthy family. A good script would balance an intriguing look behind the scenes of the fashion industry, perhaps reminiscent of The Devil Wears Prada, and some juicy, soap-style family drama. I’d give it a watch for sure. Americana is coming to ABC with star, Anthony Lapaglia, and joining him now is the ever so lovely Emilie De Ravin.

You’ve seen her on Lost, you watched her recently on Once Upon a Time, you even saw actress De Ravin melting the heart of Robert Pattinson as a gal who always liked to have dessert first in the weepie, Remember Me.

EW had the scoop. For the ABC drama pilot, De Ravin will embody Francesca, the daughter of the iconic fashion mogul to be acted by Lapaglia. Lapaglia’s character

Cue "Hail to the Chief" because TV has found its president.

Bill Pullman, who famously took on the role of head of state in the 1996 blockbuster "Independence Day," has signed on to play the Us leader in NBC's White House comedy "1600 Penn," according to The Hollywood Reporter." Pullman joins former "American Dreams" star Brittany Snow (playing his Type A daughter) and "The Book of Mormon's" Josh Gad (playing his spacey son) in the single-camera pilot about a dysfunctional first family.

Pullman previously inspired viewers in his legendary (even if cliché-filled) "Independence Day" presidential address, in which his character, fictional President Thomas J. Whitmore , said, "We will be united in our common interest ... We are fighting for our right to live, to exist and should we win the day ... We will not go quietly into the night; We will not vanish without a fight."
