Riker And Data Return In New Star Trek: Picard Trailer

CBS All Access has gotten the gang back together for Star Trek: Picard.

Back at San Diego Comic-Con, the Powers That Be revealed that Data, The Borg, Seven of Nine and more would be returning for the show. That’s right, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan will all be on board when Picard debuts early next year and today, we have a brand new trailer which shows off several familiar faces, making for a very fan-pleasing promo.

Of course, it’s long been rumored that members of the Next Generation crew would find their way back to Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) for the upcoming spinoff, but this latest preview will surely send Trekkies into a tailspin. After all, given that Picard picks up years – decades – after what transpired in The Next Generation, it’ll be fascinating to see how those friendships have developed over time.

‘Star Trek: Picard’ New Trailer Reunites Jean-Luc With Data (Video)

  • The Wrap
CBS All Access dropped a trailer for its highly anticipated new series “Star Trek: Picard” at New York Comic Con on Saturday, featuring a look at the former captain fighting the test of time in a Federation where he is no longer welcome.

The trailer opens in picturesque vineyard, with Data painting a cryptic portrait of a cloaked figure standing on the edge of a stormy sea. When a pensive-looking Picard slowly approaches, Data asks, “Would you like to finish it, Captain?”

Picard responds, “I don’t know how.”

Flash cuts of a space fight abruptly end with Picard seemingly waking from a dream. What follows is the captain determined to stand up for the Federation and “what it should still represent,” only to be harshly told, “This is no longer your house, Jean-Luc. Go home!”

Data Will Be A Story Point But Won’t Be In Every Star Trek: Picard Episode

The first trailer for Star Trek: Picard sent fans into meltdown as it revealed that several more familiar characters would be returning for the upcoming series than we thought. One of those is Brent Spiner’s Data, with the android’s death back in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis referenced in the promo before he was somehow revealed to be alive again in its final scene.

This emphasis on Data suggested we’ll be seeing a whole lot of him on the show. However, Spiner has now clarified that he won’t be turning up in every episode of Picard‘s first season. That said, he teased that his character will be an important “story point.”

“Data makes appearances in the show, I can say that. And Data is a story point in this season as well. But I’m not in every episode. I’m not a major character on the show.
