WB Eyeing Bradley Cooper For Hal Jordan In Green Lantern Corps

We haven’t heard too much about it of late, but Warner Bros. is still working on Green Lantern Corps, with the studio taking their time to make sure they get that corner of the DC mythos right on their next attempt. It’s known that the intention is to feature a more experienced Hal Jordan, perhaps with Jon Stewart as the rookie Lantern, and for the past two years, Tom Cruise has been circling the role of Jordan. But, according to what we’re hearing, that’s not the case anymore.

We Got This Covered has been informed that Cruise is likely to pass on the role, if he hasn’t already, which means WB has now set their sights elsewhere and apparently, Bradley Cooper is their top choice to play Hal Jordan in the Dceu. We’re hearing that the studio is extremely keen to get the A

Guillermo del Toro on ‘The Shape of Water’ as an Elegy to Lost Love: ‘I Wanted to Make a Love Song’
Mere days after taking home both Best Picture and Best Director Academy Awards for his monster-movie romance “The Shape of Water” in 2018, Mexican auteur Guillermo del Toro announced that he had recently divorced his wife of three decades. As revealed in a new interview with Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah on their indie genre production company SpectreVision’s podcast “Visitations,” the film was, for del Toro, an elegy to lost love and the “transformation” that occurs during marriage, and its fallout.

“I wanted to make a song, a love song,” del Toro said of “The Shape of Water,” which he wrote and directed. “I wanted it to feel like a song that you listen to in the car with the top down on the Pch on the way to the beach, a really beautiful melody. I wanted to say what I think love is, which is very very simple, which

Dafoe will play “the head barker at a traveling carnival who gives Bradley Cooper’s character a job, ushering him into a world of show biz and grifting.” I love Dafoe, and it’s great to see him jump on board a Del Toro movie!

Joker Has A Hilarious Connection To Superbad’s McLovin

So far, Todd Phillips’ Joker has certainly exceeded its expectations. While the critical response has been incredibly polarizing – sparking a national debate in the process – the original origin story has been a mammoth box office success, already topping the opening weekend grosses of Justice League, and even the total earnings of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Of course, all comic book movies spark some sort of fan interaction online. And no matter how much the cast or crew wants to separate Joker from the rest of the superhero genre, their film is having the same social media presence as the best of the bunch.

One specific Tweet, courtesy of user @Minalopzavina, has become quite popular. In it, she points out that one of the suits Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck wears is nearly identical to the one McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) wears for his night on the town in Superbad.

Streaming: where to find Judy Garland films online

Renée Zellweger may excel as the Hollywood icon, but Garland’s own electric screen presence, in classics and curios alike, remains a thing of wonder

Is every October at the cinema going to turn up a new reason to reflect on the genius of Judy Garland? I shan’t complain if so. A year after Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born remake prompted our revisit to George Cukor’s unimprovable 1954 Garland-starring version, a new biopic puts the embattled icon back in the spotlight. Renée Zellweger delivers a gutsy, all-in tour de force in Judy – but if you want to remember the star through her own performances, the streaming realm turns up a variety of options, some more obvious than others.

The cast-iron classics are easy enough to find: in addition to A Star Is Born, the likes of The Wizard of Oz (if you’ve somehow made it to

Warner Bros. Laughing All The Way To The Bank With ‘Joker’: $94M Debut Reps Records For October, Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix & Robert De Niro
Updated, Late Friday Pm w/chart: Joker continues to rob a record amount of cash from the October box office with Friday looking at an increased $39.8M, now putting the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow/Bron Studios pic’s 3-day at $94M. One rival distribution source believes that Joker, in play at 73 offshore territories, is heading to a worldwide opening between $188M-$194M. That would be right behind Venom‘s opening October global record of $207.4M.

For director Todd Phillips, Joker reps a career opening record, besting the 3-day domestic start of The Hangover 2 ($85.9M). It’s also an opening record for Joaquin Phoenix, far exceeding the $60.1M 2002 opening of Signs, and a great major studio comeback for the three time Oscar nominee who has starred of late in a string of indie pics like Mary Magdalene, the Sisters Brothers and You Were Never Really Here. And for Robert De Niro,

Box Office: ‘Joker’ Scores Record $13.3 Million on Thursday Night

  • Variety
Box Office: ‘Joker’ Scores Record $13.3 Million on Thursday Night
Joaquin Phoenix’s “Joker” scored a record $13.3 million on Thursday night in North America.

The figure is above the $10 million in previews that was earned a year ago by “Venom,” which posted an $80 million opening weekend — both records for October. It’s the biggest preview number since “The Lion King” pulled in $23 million in July and portends a potential record opening. “Joker” has been forecast for a similarly massive debut in the $80 million to $95 million range from 4,374 North American theaters for Warner Bros.

The previews began at 4 p.m.

The R-rated “Joker” is directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Silver about a failed stand-up comedian who becomes a psychopathic criminal. Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp and Marc Maron also star. Concerns have been raised about the violence-laden film glamorizing a mass killer. New York and Los Angeles police are deploying officers to theaters screening the film this weekend.
