Read Def Leppard’s Celebratory Rock Hall Induction Speech

Since forming more than four decades ago, Def Leppard became one of the best-selling bands in the world on the strength of mega-platinum albums like Pyromania and Hysteria and hard-rocking anthems like “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Tonight, they were finally recognized for their contributions to rock & roll.

The band has been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 14 years now but they’ve been up for nomination only once. It turns out, that’s all they needed. The group garnered more votes

Hear Def Leppard’s Heavy Metal Cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’

Def Leppard recorded a nearly note-perfect rendition of the title track of their 1987 blockbuster album Hysteria, as well as a heavy cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” at Spotify’s recording studio for the streaming service’s “Spotify Singles” series. “Hysteria” features a little bluesier guitar soloing here and there and it lacks the gargantuan wall of vocals on the original, but it’s an otherwise faithful performance of the song, which made it to Number 10 on the Hot 100.

Also mostly faithful – or at least full of faith – is

West Brom: 5 Reasons They Will Be Relegated This Season

Sang Tan/AP/Press Association Images

This season has not been kind to West Brom, after they excelled last season by finishing in the top eight of the Premier League. A slow start to the season saw Steve Clarke sacked, which did seem harsh considering how well he did for the team the previous season. Pepe Mel has since become the club’s new permanent manager.

The theme of this slideshow is to look and the reasons why West Brom could still find themselves in trouble despite the managerial change. The Baggies lay 17th in the table at the time of writing, level on points with Sunderland who are currently stranded in the relegation zone. As always, this will be a considered review that will incorporate strong opinions alongside those all-important stats from Who Scored.

As mentioned in previous articles, the bottom of the table is tight and it’s

Aston Villa Transfer News: £3 Million Bid For Spurs Fullback Kyle Naughton?

Nigel French/Empics Sport

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert wants to bring Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Naughton to the West Midlands.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the 25-year-old fullback could be available for a cut-price £3 million. Lambert is keen on Naughton, who played under him at Norwich City two seasons ago.

Naughton has been in and out of the team at Spurs, covering either right or left back when injury and suspensions have left the likes of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose unavailable. He and Walker joined Tottenham together from Sheffield United in 2009 for undisclosed fees.

Since Tim Sherwood took over as Hotspur head coach from Andre Villas-Boas, Naughton has played just one game. Villa have chopped and changed their fullbacks this season with Leandro Bacuna and another Blades academy product Matthew Lowton getting games on the right.

Joe Bennett and Antonio Luna – a summer signing from Sevilla – have vied for the left back berth.

Southampton vs West Brom – Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Media Image Ltd

Date: Saturday 11th, January Venue: St Mary’s Stadium Kick-Off: 15:00 GMT

Can Southampton do the double over West Brom in revenge of last season’s meetings?

The big news in the build-up to this match has been the appointment of Pepe Mel as head coach of West Brom after weeks of negotiation between the two parties – speculation suggests that initially Mel did not want to work with the current backroom staff at the Midlands club.

And it has not taken long for the comparisons to begin between Mel and Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Both managers are renowned for playing attacking, high-intensity football and both have had similar track records in Spain, helping their respective punch above their weight, before poor runs saw them lose their job respectively.

The Baggies will be hoping to that appoint of Mel can have a similar effect to that of Pochettino,

West Brom Appoint Pepe Mel As Head Coach

Nigel French/Empics Sport

West Bromwich Albion have named Pepe Mel as their new head coach on an 18-month contract.

The Spaniard, 50, spent three years at the helm of Real Betis, but was sacked in early December and replaced by Juan Carlos Garrido. He has had 14 years in management.

Albion dispensed with Steve Clarke before Christmas, leaving assistant Keith Downing in caretaker charge over the festive period. He will remain in the dugout for the away trip to Southampton with the incoming Mel watching from the stands.

Mel held talks with the Baggies last month, but they broke down as he wanted to bring his own backroom staff to The Hawthorns. It is understood he has since agreed to work with Downing and Albion goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely.

Talking to West Brom’s official website, club Sporting & Technical Director Richard Garlick said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Pepe to the Club.

West Ham: 5 Managerial Replacements For Sam Allardyce

Media Image Ltd

Woeful West Ham’s Fa Cup mauling at the hands of Nottingham Forest has left manager Sam Allardyce on the brink at Upton Park, according to the sack race.

The 5-0 3rd round defeat on Sunday was the Hammer’s worst in the third round since way back in 1926 and compounded what has already been a truly miserable season so far.

West Ham are currently a point and a place off the foot of the Premier League table with the relegation-haunted side win-less in their last five games in all competitions.

Tonight they face Manchester City in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-finals and another demoralising defeat could lead to Allardyce getting the boot, regardless of the fact the club’s owners only this week issued a vote of confidence.

Allardyce’s odds of becoming the next topflight coaching casualty have tumbled in recent

West Brom Transfers: 5 Championship Strikers To Replace Nicolas Anelka

Media Image Ltd

West Brom must be starting to lose patience with Nicolas Anelka. At the start of the season, it looked like the Baggies had pulled off a clever piece of transfer business with the signing of the 34-year-old. However, it’s a gamble that has ultimately backfired on the club – and maybe cost Steve Clarke his job in some respects.

At the end of the day, the club are involved in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table – and simply can’t afford to rely on Anelka any longer. This is all especially the case with the French forward likely to be banned for a lengthy spell due to his anti-semitic goal celebration during his side’s 3-3 draw with West Ham.

Money is likely to be tight at the club judging by their summer transfer activity – so it stands to reason that the club might

The Hammers last entertained Albion in March and ran out 3-1 winners, but they will still be without Andy Carroll – the difference between the sides that day. Sam Allardyce has further intensified the pressure on himself by describing Saturday’s lunchtime encounter with West Brom as “a must win” as West Ham have slipped into the Premier League’s bottom three.

Heavyweights Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all given the Hammers hidings in recent outings with only an extended run in the Capital One Cup affordng fans crumbs of Christmas comfort.

Cardiff City New Manager: 5 Men To Replace Malky Mackay

Media Image Ltd

Relations between Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay and the club’s owner Vincent Tan are approaching break point as the Malaysian billionaire will not be freeing up funds for January.

Mackay said he wanted to sign three players in the winter window following the win over West Bromwich Albion – a result which conversely cost Baggies boss Steve Clarke his job. Bluebirds chief executive Simon Lim has swiftly told the man that took Cardiff into the Premier League he won’t receive a ‘single penny’.

The club hierarchy has also accused Mackay and former head of recruitment Iain Moody of overspending in the summer, which explains the sudden hard-line stance on transfers and why the latter was sacked. Without that key ally, the Scot has been vulnerable but refuses to quit.

Supporters still back Mackay following Tan’s public criticism by proxy through Lim, but there is an

West Brom New Manager – 5 Replacements For Steve Clarke

Media Image Ltd

West Brom have sacked manager Steve Clarke after a disastrous turn of results left them just two points and two places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Clarke had earlier led the Baggies through an impressive period of form that saw his side pick up a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford followed by spirited draws against Arsenal and Chelsea.

But Albion’s 1-0 defeat by Cardiff on Saturday – their fourth straight league loss – proved to be the end of Clarke’s reign at the club, a year-and-a-half after replacing Roy Hodgson.

Clarke’s dismissal was followed by the sacking of Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas on Monday, meaning a quarter of Premier League clubs have dismissed their managers this season as West Brom launch their search for a replacement.

Ian Holloway, Martin Jol and Paolo Di Canio have also lost their jobs this term,

West Brom Sack Head Coach Steve Clarke

Media Image Ltd

West Bromwich Albion have sacked head coach Steve Clarke after 18 months in charge at The Hawthorns.

Former Chelsea right back Clarke, 50, saw the Baggies slump to a fourth successive Premier League defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday, leaving them two points and as many places above the drop.

Albion have only won seven of the 34 league matches they have played in the calendar year of 2013. The West Midlands outfit lost top scorer Romelu Lukaku in the summer when his loan spell from Chelsea came to an end and he was sent out to Everton instead.

Clarke had spells as assistant at Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool before stepping up at West Brom into his first full-time management role. He won less than a third of his 59 games in charge.

A Baggies club statement confirmed Clarke had been placed on gardening leaving along with number two Kevin Keen.

Newcastle 2-1 West Brom: Player Ratings

Media Image Ltd

Newcastle United recorded their fourth straight Premier League and moved fifth in the table with a 2-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies captain Chris Brunt cancelled out Yoan Gouffran’s opener before Moussa Sissoko scored the pick of the goals to win it for the hosts at St James’ Park.

The Magpies saw their stunning form continue here, following up recent wins over top flight heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. Albion meanwhile saw an unbeaten run of three matches come to an end.

Alan Pardew welcomed Toon right fullback Mathieu Debuchy back from a ban in the only change to the side that started the victory over Norwich. Baggies boss Steve Clarke meanwhile made three alterations after seeing a two goal lead slip against West Midlands rivals Aston Villa on Monday.

Billy Jones and Liam Ridgewell returned on the flanks of defence, so Steven Reid and Goran Popov made way.

Date: Saturday, November 30 Venue: St. James’ Park Kick-Off: 17:30

Newcastle United go looking for their fourth Premier League win in a row on Saturday, while West Brom will look to pick themselves up after letting a two goal lead slip against Aston Villa.

Team News

Mathieu Debuchy will return to Newcastle’s line up after the Frenchman served a one-match suspension, with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa expected to make way for the right-back.

Elsewhere, manager Alan Pardew has no fresh injury concerns and is expected to name a similar starting XI to the one which beat Norwich City last weekend.

For the visitors, Baggies boss Steve Clarke is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of the trip to Tyneside.

But the Scot has admitted he has a few concerns, with the likes of Liam Ridgewell, Scott Sinclair and Billy Jones all struggling to make the squad.

Depending on results elsewhere,

Chelsea Vs West Brom – Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Venue: Stamford Bridge Referee: Lee Probert Date: 9th November

While the absence of the in-form Fernando Torres would be a problem for the Blues, Samuel Eto’o has performed well when deputising. Manager Jose Mourinho looks to be finally getting the best out of the striker and as a result it lifts the burden off the Chelsea midfield to be getting all the goals.

West Brom know all about the threat of Chelsea and how they’ll play, as manager Steve Clarke has long been a friend and former work colleague of Mourinho. He will name his side to nullify to threat of the Blues on the break, and will hope he can spring a counter at Stamford Bridge.

Team News

Chelsea will be without Marco Van Ginkel, Fernando Torres, and Ryan Bertrand. Manager Jose Mourinho revealed dropped midfielder Eden hazard will play against West Brom this weekend.

Current Form: Liverpool – Dlwwd, West Bromwich Albion – Dwwdd

Managers: Liverpool – Brendan Rodgers, West Bromwich Albion – Steve Clarke

Injury News:

Both teams will be without several key men for this weekend’s three o’clock kick off. Starting with the home team, Brendan Rodgers will still be without chief creative talent Philippe Coutinho but believes the Brazilian should be back for next weekend’s clash with table toppers Arsenal. The little playmaker has been back in full training this week and should be chomping at the bit to return.

Another continuing absentee is expected to come in the form of left back José Enrique. The Spaniard missed last weekend’s draw with his former team Newcastle United with a long standing knee problem which seems to crop up every few weeks. Aly Cissokho is

Can Liverpool keep up with their push for top spot in the Premier League or will their poor form against West Brom continue on Saturday?

Team News

Liverpool will welcome Lucas Leiva back into the side when they play host to West Brom, after the midfielder missed the 2-2 draw with Newcastle due to personal reasons.

Defender Jose Enrique is likely to miss out with a knee injury, while this game will come too soon for not-yet-fit Philippe Coutinho, who is expected back next weekend.

West Brom will continue to be without Scott Sinclair, with the winger still sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster also remains out, but the Baggies have no new injury concerns.

West Brom have won four of their last five encounters with Liverpool.

West Brom 1-1 Arsenal: Nicolas Anelka Rues Missed Chances

Media Image Ltd

A hard fought draw at the Hawthorns ended Arsenal’s impressive run of away victories but on reflection they will consider themselves fortunate to escape with a point.

If ex-Gunner Nicolas Anelka had his shooting boots on he may have condemned his former club to their first defeat since the opening day of the season. Twice in the opening moments of the second half Anelka had guilt edge chances to double the Baggies advantage only to miscontrol the first opportunity in front of an open goal and then narrowly curl the ball wide when bearing down on Schezney.

The first half was a rather tame affair with West Brom happy to surrender possession while defending deep and Arsenal unable to find the passing rhythm that had served so well this term.

However, in the closing moments the home side built up a head of steam and after

Arsenal: Will Arsene Wenger Sacrifice The Carling Cup?

Media Image Ltd

It may be heresy to say this but Arsenal may need to sacrifice this week’s Capital One cup tie against West Bromwich Albion this week.

After their flying start to the season, I won’t mention Aston Villa; some of the Gunners seemed to be running on empty in the second half against Stoke and look in badly need of a rest.

I think it would be disrespectful to a solid Baggies outfit, buoyed by a comprehensive win over Sunderland on Saturday, to think that a second string Arsenal could get a result at the Hawthorns.

Of course Steve Clarke could also rest some of his players for the upcoming tie but, with no other distractions he may see this as his side’s best chance of silverware. (Also on reflection still probably Arsenal’s!) On the basis that they should finish comfortably mid table this
