Short Film Review – Neon (2016)

Tom Jolliffe reviews the short film Neon, which premiered at FrightFest 2016…

It’s a difficult task to create a short film which captivates and challenges an audience. This I know first hand. One might assume that you can pick up a camera and shoot something for nothing. In theory you could, but you leave yourself at the mercy of people working out of kindness or as a first dip of their toe into shooting something. The truth is even with short films you still need to spend money. You are fighting against a lack of demand for them. You’re trying to pull in financing for something that people will generally be loathe to finance due to a lack of perceived return. In some regards it’s hard to capture your audience too. A singular short is very truncated. If it’s not episodic, to some there is no reason

Martin Clunes to return for 7th series of Doc Martin in September

Doc Martin has been recommissioned for a seventh series by ITV.

Martin Clunes will return as the grumpy Dr Martin Ellingham in eight more episodes of the comedy drama set in Cornwall.

Filming has begun in Port Isaac, with Caroline Catz, Dame Eileen Atkins, Ian McNeice, Joe Absolom, Jessica Ransom and John Marquez all making a return.

The series is expected to debut in the autumn on ITV.

Series six saw Martin and Louisa (Catz) finally get married, but a life-threatening incident saw Louisa taking their son James Henry to live with her mother in Spain while they worked out their issues.

Martin Clunes said: "I'm thrilled to be back on the beautiful North Cornish coast to shoot series seven of Doc Martin. The Doc has some serious work to do if he is going to persuade Louisa to come back."

"We're delighted Doc Martin is returning to ITV," said ITV's Steve November.

Doc Martin Season 6

The bride looks beautiful in her flowing white gown. The groom looks . . . prepared. What could possibly go wrong? Well a lot actually, after all we are talking about the long awaited wedding involving Martin and Louisa at the start of Doc Martin series six. The newly married duo go from being bombarded with confetti to being splattered in mud and feathers. Oh and did I mention the gun wielding nutcase who tries to hold them hostage? As Doc Martin succinctly put it “it’s not exactly the day you were hoping for.” Enough of the spoilers, you’ll have to watch it yourself if you want to see the rest and you can do just that on 10 December.

Doc Martin series five was Acorn Media’s best selling DVD of 2012 as Louise Jameson (Doctor Who) arrived in Port Wenn and plunged Louisa’s life into chaos. Series

Doc Martin Series 1 Joe Absolom Ian McNeicee. Acorn/RLJEntertainment.com

For fans of British TV, Ian McNeice and Joe Absolom are instantly recognizable as the father and son duo Bert and Al Large in the hit dramedy Doc Martin. The duo were recently in Boston for an event organized by American Public Television to publicize the show which is currently airing on Acorn TV. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak with Joe and Al about the Doc Martin.

Doc Martin is built around the idea that, Dr Ellingham is a fish out of water as a city slicker trying to adapt to life in the South-West. As actors, can you guys relate to his predicament when you leave London behind and head down to Port Isaac to start production?

Joe “We’ve been filming in Port Isaac for so long that we’ve become part of the tapestry of the town.

DVD Review: 'I Spit on Your Grave 2'

  • CineVue
★☆☆☆☆ Following its world premiere appearance at this year's Film4 FrightFest, Steven R. Monroe's I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013) comes to DVD and Blu-ray this week. This blood-spattered sequel to the 2010 remake stars British actress Jemma Dallender as Katie, an ambitious young model whose dream is to make it big in New York City. Sadly, Katie finds herself held back by a dated portfolio. Short on cash and desperate to update her image, she spots a poster offering a free photoshoot. Being a naive, small-town girl, she has no concept of exploitation or 'stranger-danger', and enthusiastically throws herself into her first modelling session.

Things quickly turn sour when photographer Ivan (Joe Absolom) asks Katie to take off her clothes. She promptly declines and leaves the Eastern European photographer and his brothers high and dry - but not for long. Katie wakes to find that Georgy (Yavor Baharov), one of the brothers,

31 Days of Horror: ‘I Spit on Your Grave 2′ Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Jemma Dallender, Yavor Baharov, Joe Absolom, Aleksandar Aleksiev, Mary Stockley | Written by Neil Elman, Thomas Fenton | Directed by Steven R. Monroe

So it’s that time of year again. October. The trees are changing, the sky is darkening and Halloween is just around the corner. It seems only fitting then, that horror movies are released in large volume and horror fans around the world are wetting their gills with what is on offer.

A few years back we were treated to a remake of Day of the Woman or I Spit on Your Grave and it was a very good remake that while it wasn’t for everyone did a good job at updating the premise and adding some much needed gore to the mix. I was surprised, to be honest, to hear they were putting out a sequel though, but here we are.

Directed by Steven R. Monroe,

New Clip & Promo For ‘I Spit On Your Grave 2′

Having been a huge fan of Steven R. Monroe’s remake of Meir Zarchi’s infamous video nasty I Spit On Your Grave, I was looking forward to seeing how he’d top the vicious payback dished out by Sarah Butler. Sadly, the sequel, naturally titled I Spit On Your Grave 2 and centring an all-new victim, doesn’t come close after I caught the film over the weekend. While it’s by no means dire, it lacks the ingenuity and shocking set-pieces of the 2010 effort.

We’ve a new clip and promo from the sequel currently available in the Us on video-on-demand, while in the UK it arrives on DVD/Blu-ray from 7th October.

“Naturally beautiful, Jessica (Dallender) has just settled into New York where she, like many other young women, is trying to make it as a model. But what starts out as an innocent and simple photo

Vicious Final Trailer For ‘I Spit On Your Grave 2′

Those in the Us willing to witness the wrath of another helpless victim can catch Anchor Bay’s brutal horror sequel I Spit On Your Grave 2, as it hits limited theatres this weekend. Director Steven R. Monroe is back behind the camera as he aims to top his own vicious, yet ingenious remake of Meir Zarchi’s notorious 1978 rape-revenger. It’s going to be difficult to eclipse the carnage of those previous brutal set-pieces but I’m willing to give Monroe’s follow-up a go after the impressive 2010 gore-filled redo starring Sarah Butler.

Check out the final trailer trailer for the film centring on another unlucky female forced into a ferocious fightback on a bunch of evil perpetrators!

Naturally beautiful, Jessica (Jemma Dallender) has just settled into New York where she, like many other young women, is trying to make it as a model. But what starts out as

Brutal New Stills & Artwork For ‘I Spit On Your Grave 2′

I written quite a few times on Thn about my admiration for Steven R. Monroe’s vicious, yet ingenious remake of notorious rape-revenger I Spit On Your Grave. I was never a fan of the controversial 1978 shocker directed by Meir Zarchi, but Monroe knocked the intense redo out of the park thanks to a host of brutal set-pieces that need to be seen to be believed (a strong stomach is a must however), as well as impressive performances from Sarah Butler and Andrew Howard.

Anchor Bay tasked the director to return and I Spit On Your Grave 2 will see another unlucky female victim fall foul to a group of sadists before unleashing her own ruthless survival instincts.

Naturally beautiful, Jessica (Dallender) has just settled into New York where she, like many other young women, is trying to make it as a model. But what starts out as an innocent
