Inside Ted Danson's Excellent Adventure That Brought Him to Wife Mary Steenburgen (Exclusive)

Love was clearly in the air when Ted Danson met Mary Steenburgen on a five-hour canoe ride on California’s Big River during filming of the otherwise forgettable 1994 movie Pontiac Moon. "We paddled in sync," Ted tells Closer. "We went out as friends and by the time we came back, we were in love." Making it all the sweeter, both Ted, 70, and Mary, 65, had been through rocky romantic waters beforehand and had given up on love. "I announced to all my friends — not dramatically, but very seriously — that I was done with relationships," says Mary, then a single mother of two. The twice-divorced Ted had reached the same conclusion. "Ironic how life works in those moments," he says. "Once you throw up your arms and surrender, a lot of times things come your way." That’s the kind of wisdom Ted attained from a young age, when he grew up

It’s Guns & Golden Oldies On The Small Screen As ‘The Expendables’ TV Series Announced

As Expendables 3 star Harrison Ford survives an eye-popping plane crash, more surprise news emerges that the Sylvester Stallone-created brand is TV-bound.

It was thought a female-led movie – The Expendabelles – would be the next chapter for the franchise, but now Fox are putting an “event series” on the slate which will do for small screen icons of old what the films did for the likes of Stallone and Dolph Lundgren.

The definitive Hollywood resurrection man is on producing duties, whilst Shane Brennan, Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward script the concept, which doesn’t sound a million miles away from the tried and tested formula.

Speculation will be rife on who’ll take part, but it’s safe to say Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver), Mr T (The A-Team) and Lorenzo Lamas (Renegade) might soon be getting a call. I also see Fred Dryer (Hunter) and Dirk “The Face” Benedict being in the mix somewhere.

Review: 'Marvel's Agents of Shield' - 'Aftershocks': Hunter vs. Hunter

  • Hitfix
"Marvel's Agents of Shield" is back from its winter hiatus, and I have a review of tonight's episode coming up just as soon as I pass around the talking stick... Much as I enjoyed the first half of "Shield" season 2, the brief run of "Agent Carter" in its place did this show no favors. "Shield" is much improved over its first season, but it still has a tendency to try to do too much all at once, and that overstuffed quality was especially apparent tonight after spending a couple of months in the very streamlined world of Peggy Carter. Even with Ward and the May doppelganger out of action this week, "Shield" has so many moving parts at the moment that the show frequently has to take shortcuts for both plot mechanics and emotional beats. Fitz doing a 180 off-camera about Skye's super powers didn't really work, and the notion that

Failed TV pilots that paved the way for breakout hits

Had these pilots been given the green light, we might have been without Breaking Bad, 24, Hannibal, Community and more…

It’s not all grumble and moan round here when TV networks decline to pick up pilots. Sometimes, we’re even grateful.

Hindsight teaches that every so often, passing on a particular show is the best thing a channel could have done. Not ordering one pilot to series spurs its creators on to start another, and frees up its cast to join new projects.

Had the failures below all thrived, there’s a chance we could now be living in a world with no Breaking Bad, Hannibal, or even South Park. Had these pilots gone on to enjoy healthy, lengthy lives, then Jack Bauer, Oberyn Martell, Chandler Bing and more might all be unrecognisable today.

Here then, are the TV pilots we’re grateful weren’t taken to series because their

Marc Alan Fishman: The Voice of an Entire Universe

  • Comicmix
Let’s just get this out of the way now: Amongst we ComicMixers, the esteemed (and far prettier) Emily S. Whitten is a bigger and better fan of voice actors than I shall ever be. With that being said… aren’t voice actors amazing?

You see, in between bouts of crippling sinusitis and binge-watching Breaking Bad like I was addicted to meth, I opted to catch John Dimaggio’s documentary I Know That Voice. A fantastic little flick dedicated in celebration of a continually (mostly) unsung hero of the animated world: the voice performer. With interviews from some – if not most – of the current tribe of working actors and actresses who lend their larynx to the cartoons of the day, I simply must recommend watching it yourself soon if you haven’t already.

But that recommendation is not my singular premise of the week, kiddos. For you see, it was
