Grace and Frankie Has Been Renewed For Season 7 And Broke a Major Netflix Record, Nbd

  • Popsugar
Grace and Frankie just made history! The beloved sitcom starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin has managed to escape Netflix's canceling sprees all these years and in doing so has become the streaming giant's longest-running series to date. The titular duo might be living the "f*ck it" life, but we have a feeling they'd be happy to hear this news. (At least we know Paul Rudd and Pete Davidson probably are.)

With 94 episodes, the comedy will have the most episodes of any Netflix original series after airing its seventh and final season, which will consist of a last batch of 16 episodes. "It's thrilling and somehow fitting, that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, will be the oldest show on Netflix," cocreators and showrunners Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris said in a statement about the news.

Grace and Frankie: Coming to an End!

After 94 episodes of laughs, Grace and Frankie is coming to an end.

The series will end after a seventh season which will consist of 16 episodes. The show's sixth season recently wrapped production and is slated to debut January 2020.

That means there's still a significant amount of time before the series will officially be over.

The early renewal makes the series Netflix's longest-running original to date, meaning it will be making history when it signs off the air, presumably in 2021.

Fonda, Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, and Ethan Embry will all return for the seventh and final season.

Jeff Daniels Finds The Role Of A Lifetime In A National Myth – Guest Column

Jeff Daniels Finds The Role Of A Lifetime In A National Myth – Guest Column
In this guest column for Deadline, actor Sam Waterston, who co-starred with Jeff Daniels in Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series The Newsroom (2012-2014), offers his thoughts on seeing his old friend’s Tony-nominated performance as Atticus Finch in Sorkin’s Broadway adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird. The 2019 Tony Awards are Sunday airing on CBS.

Everybody knows a Tony Award is a prize for a performance. It’s not a lifetime achievement award. But sometimes it could be, and Jeff Daniels as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird is one of those cases. A performance like that doesn’t just happen. You need to have it in you, you need to have spent a very long time learning the skills required to deliver it, and there are lots of them, having to do with timing and pace, with “touch” and “feel,” which goes back to having the part in you somewhere,

‘SNL’: Pete Davidson and Paul Rudd Rap About ‘Grace and Frankie,’ Their Favorite Show
You may like “Grace and Frankie,” but you probably don’t love it as much as Pete Davidson and Paul Rudd. That became clear on last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which featured a “Game of Thrones” rap that quickly turned into a tribute to the Netflix comedy starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

“Can’t believe it’s coming to an end. It’s like my favoritest show ever. HBO, here we go: Jon Snow, dragons, lotsa wolves, armor clothes, silver swords that extendo, prostitute houses, lotsa wine, and a big-ass wall — never miss an episode!” Davidson began, and yet he seemed to lack a certain enthusiasm. Kenan Thompson then interjected to point out that Davidson has never shared his affection for the show before. “I don’t really like to talk about my personal life,” Davidson replied to laughs from the audience. “I don’t like that kind of attention.

On the Basis of Sex

With two major movie accolades in one year, Chief Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the real Wonder Woman, bar none. Mimi Leder’s dramatic biography takes on a relatively small piece of Ms. Ginsburg’s life, but the simplifications aren’t a problem. It does have the feeling of an old-fashioned celebratory bio, with colorful characters and hiss-able villains. But Leder and screenwriter Daniel Stiepleman never lose track of their central theme.

‘Grace and Frankie’ Creator Reveals Ernie Hudson Return – PaleyFest
Season 6 of Grace and Frankie promises the return of a popular character and the addition of a new one. The cast and co-creators of the Netflix comedy filled fans in on the series Saturday afternoon at PaleyFest in Hollywood.

Taking part in the conversation were series stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, Ethan Embry, Baron Vaughn and June Diane Raphael. Also attending were co-creators and executive producers, Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris.

Kauffman revealed Ernie Hudson, who played Tomlin’s love interest Jacob on previous episodes, will be returning.

Another big question was when and if Dolly Parton — Fonda and Tomlin’s 9 to 5 co-star, will appear on the series.

Fonda said it depends on “the time and her schedule. She wants to, but she’s busy.”

While a Parton appearance remains uncertain,

Aaron Sorkin Says He Has ‘No Plans’ to Revive
ACN is not coming back on the air, according to Aaron Sorkin.

The creator of HBO’s cable news drama “The Newsroom” said on Monday night that he has “no plans” to revive the series, a week after one of the show’s cast members, Olivia Munn, said she’s had conversations about bringing the series back. But Sorkin seemingly canceled those rumors on Monday’s “Late Late Show.”

“I wish the show was on the air now. I’d love to be writing it now. But there are other things coming up. I have no plans to return to any of that,” Sorkin told host James Corden.

Last week, Munn spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of a “Newsroom” revival.

'Grace and Frankie' review: Season 5 of Netflix show is funny but familiar

NetflixIf you're a fan of the show, season 5 has plenty on offer to keep you happy.Saraswati DatarWhen the first season of Grace and Frankie launched five years ago, its big talking point was the formidable star cast led by fantastic actors like Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston. But no one really knew if a show about two seventy-year-old frenemies who find themselves thrown together when their husbands come out as gay lovers and want to marry each other would really work. Created by Marta Kauffman, one of the co-creators of Friends, and Howard J Morris, Grace and Frankie is now in its fifth season with all episodes streaming on Netflix. Season 4 of the show ended on a characteristically hilarious yet poignant note when Grace Hanson (Jane Fonda) and Frankie Bergstein (Lilly Tomlin) break out of an old age retirement home that their kids tricked them into moving.
