'The Addams Family': Meet the Voices Behind Each Animated Performer

The Addams Family began in 1938 as a single-panel illustration of a macabre life for The New Yorker by cartoonist Charles Addams. None of the cartoons had names until its popularity led to a 1960s television show starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones, and later an animated series in the early 1970s. A revival  came in the early 1990s with two films starring Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia and Christina Ricci

The newest rendition of The Addams Family is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, who worked together on the raunchy 2016 animated film Sausage Party. The movie follows the family as they ...

John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina on Fast Track, Gets Underworld Director

  • MovieWeb
Lionsgate is getting ready to expand the John Wick franchise with its first ever spin-off. Ballerina has been put on the fast track by the studio and has locked down director Len Wiseman to helm the project. This move comes hot on the heels of this summer's John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, which proved to be a huge hit for the studio, and one it sorely needed. So they're going with the hot hand and not wasting any time when it comes to keeping this train moving down the tracks.

According to a new report, Len Wiseman will direct Ballerina, working from a script by Shay Hatten. This isn't the first we've heard of the project. Lionsgate initially won Hatten's screenplay in a bidding war back in 2017, with the hope being that they could transform into something that would fit within the John Wick universe, and that's exactly what they've done.

How The Addams Family Found New Blood to Spill

Tony Sokol Oct 10, 2019

The Addams Family is a cure for the commonplace, and directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon like talking about that and their new movie.

Creepy, kooky, mysterious, ookie, The Addams Family embraces them all. From back when Chas Addams' pen created them in The New Yorker through the '60s television series to the '90s cinematic double jolt, the batty bloodline brings macabre warmth to all generations. The upcoming 3D computer-animated reincarnation incorporates all that has come before and finds room for growth to introduce the family to impressionable young minds of any age. Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron star as Gomez and Morticia Addams, taking on the roles rendered equally iconic by John Astin and Carolyn Jones on TV and then by Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia in the '90s films.

While Christina Ricci stole the movies via grand theft performance, Chloë Grace Moretz

‘Arctic Dogs’ Trailer: Jeremy Renner, Anjelica Huston, Alec Baldwin & James Franco Lead This Animated Film You Probably Didn’t Know Existed

Previously, during the heyday of Disney animated films, the idea that an animated film featured an all-star cast was silly. Look at most of the pre-2000 Disney animated films, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find star-studded outings. Sometimes, there would be one or two stars, but definitely not more than that. Nowadays, however, you can’t have an animated film without at least a half dozen stars. It’s become so commonplace that even films like “Arctic Dogs” will be chock full of strong vocal talent.

John Wick is back, and this time he’s bringing a subtitle. Parabellum is both a type of gun and Latin for “Prepare for war”, both of which set the tone nicely for this thrilling third instalment in the sharp-suited action franchise.

The action picks up exactly where Chapter 2 left off, with former assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) now a fugitive with a $14 million bounty on his head after killing someone on the premises of the Continental Hotel, the haven for hit-people run by Winston (Ian McShane). After fighting off hordes of attackers, John manages to call in a favour with gangster-slash-ballet instructor The Director (Anjelica Houston), who grants him safe passage to Casablanca,

John Wick director on the possibility of adding more Matrix stars into future instalments

Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick trilogy, has discussed whether there is a possibility of adding more The Matrix actors, in addition to Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, in future instalments of the franchise.

In an interview with ComicBookMovie, this is what the director had to say about inserting The Matrix actors such as Carrie-Anne Moss and Hugo Weaving down the line:

“You know, Keanu and I talk a lot about where we want to go. We didn’t finish John Wick 3 and have this great big plan of how to go into Chapter 4. It’s something we’re constantly thinking about and we try not to force things,” Stahelski said.

“I certainly don’t want to include a cast member to try to get somebody in as a gag and work a story around that. If we create these great characters and you know, in my head, it

The Witches (1990)

Roald Dahl’s marvelous horror thriller for children (the ones ready for it) knows exactly what it is and doesn’t soft-pedal the scary stuff. Horrible (but sexy) witches plot the wholesale destruction of Hansels and Gretels everywhere, and the only kid that can stop them has been changed into a mouse. Nicolas Roeg runs wild with Dahl’s imaginative, refreshingly un-pc book; the usual softening touches are skipped in favor of unadulterated scarifying Fun. It couldn’t be better directed; we wish that Roeg had been able to create a dozen such outrageous fantasies. Star Anjelica Huston is an amazing Grand High Witch, with Mai Zetterling, Anne Lambton and Jane Horrocks providing able witchy support. Recommended!

John Huston movies: 15 greatest films, ranked worst to best, include ‘The Maltese Falcon,’ ‘Treasure of the Sierra Madre’
Very few filmmakers have the distinction of creating a classic on their first effort. But John Huston, one of the greatest screenwriters and directors of the 20th century, did just that in 1941 with “The Maltese Falcon” and went on to create many classics by inventing, reinventing and reinvigorating genres.

Huston was born on August 5, 1906, in Nevada, Missouri. His father was the great actor Walter Huston, and young John developed an interest in the stage at a young age watching his father perform in vaudeville. He was a sickly child with an enlarged heart and kidney ailments but eventually overcame that to drop out of school at the age of 14 to become a professional boxer.
