He was married to Star Herrmann and Leigh Curran. He died on December 31, 2014 in New York City, New York, USA.

Father of Ryen Herrmann and Emma Herrmann. His step-son Rory Herrmann (is named after the Gilmore Girls main character) works as Chef.
