Paul Walker’s Brian O’Connor Confirmed To Return In Fast & Furious 9

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham may be sitting out Fast & Furious 9 after Hobbs & Shaw, but the announced cast won’t be lacking star power. Vin Diesel will be leading the film, with the usual suspects being joined by high profile newcomers like John Cena and Michael Rooker. But now we have confirmation that another much-loved actor will be back for one more go-around: Paul Walker, who’ll be reprising his role as Brian O’Connor. That’s despite Walker’s tragic death in a car crash in 2013.

Furious 7 featured an extremely impressive CGI recreation of the actor done by Weta Digital. This post-mortem performance was achieved with the involvement of Walker’s family, using his two brothers Caleb and Cody as on-set stand-ins for him. The process combined digital recreations of his face and footage from previous movies to produce an uncannily realistic resurrection. It was generally judged a success,

  • Nerdly
Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Linda Hamilton kicking Gabriel Luna’s ass in Terminator: The Search For More Money. We’ve got some big matches to get to, so let’s lick the toad and freak the !@#$ out! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Match #1: Noamichi Marufuji def. Josh Alexander (with Ethan Page) The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

Marufuji hits a dropkick, followed by running double knees to gain momentum in the early going. Alexander launches himself off the top, driving his knee into the neck of Marufuji for a two count. Marufuji connects with a series of kicks but Alexander comes right back with a big forearm shot. Alexander gets Marufuji up in the Torture Rack, then spins him down to the mat for a very close near fall. Marufuji connects with Sliced Bread #2 to pick up the win.

‘Joker’: A Dance Critic Breaks Down Joaquin Phoenix’s Unnerving Moves

‘Joker’: A Dance Critic Breaks Down Joaquin Phoenix’s Unnerving Moves
There’s a scene in “Joker” where Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck dashes into a rancid public bathroom after a harrowing killing spree on the New York City subway. With Arthur emboldened by his sudden taste for violence — and Phoenix by Hildur Guðnadóttir’s unsettling string score — he begins to dance. As depicted by the sinewy, gaunt, physically starved Phoenix, it’s an eerie act of undulation (and was reportedly an improvisation by the actor), and less a dance than some kind of animalistic channeling of psychic forces. Whether that’s Phoenix acting as Arthur, or Phoenix having some kind of fourth-wall-breaking spasm, who knows? It’s in the movie, and it is what it is.

The New York Times’ dance critic Gia Kourlas has weighed in on Phoenix’s performance, and she says that the actor is a “great dancer” in a recently published piece.

“It’s not just the way he moves,

‘The Crow’ Helmer Alex Proyas Has An Amazing Filmmaking YouTube Channel

YouTube

I love scouring YouTube for brand new cool channels and here’s one we stumbled across which has apparently been set up by The Crow filmmaker Alex Proyas. Proyas is also the man behind the likes of Dark City, I, Robot, Knowing, and Gods of Egypt, so this filmmaking-themed masterclass is worth paying attention to.

The Alex Proyas YouTube channel – Mystery Clock Cinema, subtitled ‘Alex Proyas Film & Philosophy’ has many videos providing insight into the filmmaking process and is full of hints and tips for aspiring directors, as well as his early student short films.

This has to be an absolute must for students and cinephiles.

Egyptian-born Proyas is an alumni from the Australian Film, Television and Radio film school and cut his teeth working on commercials and music videos for the likes of Sting, Inxs, Mike Oldfield and Crowded House (and many more). He exploded onto the international

Stephanie Pratt Won't Be in Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginings, She Says

Stephanie Pratt Won't Be in Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginings, She Says
Stephanie Pratt‘s new beginning is already coming to an early end. The reality star says she won’t return for the just-ordered second season of The Hills: New Beginnings, a continuation of The Hills that organically reunited her with former friends (and frenemies).

Pratt on Tuesday posted a lengthy rant to Instagram about her issues with the cast, including “evil” Spencer and Heidi Pratt, as well as “crazy” Audrina Patridge. She referred to Justin Bobby as her “rock” throughout the nightmare that was Season 1, explaining that they never hooked up, despite Joey’s insistence. When a fan commented to

‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ Renewed for Season 2 at MTV

  • The Wrap
MTV has renewed “The Hills: New Beginnings” for a second season, the network announced Monday.

The revival of the iconic reality series debuted in June and is currently airing new episodes weekly. It picks up nearly ten years after the dramatic series finale of “The Hills,” and reunites much of the show’s original cast.

Returning cast members include the once-villainous Spencer and Heidi Pratt, the Kardashian-adjacent Brody Jenner and his wife Kaitlynn Carter, Audrina Patridge and her on-again-off-again flame Justin “Bobby” Brescia and “The City” star Whitney Port. Frankie Delgado and Jason Wahler also return, with new additions including their wives, Jennifer Delgado and Ashley Wahler, plus a couple of big name newcomers like “The O.C.” alum Mischa Barton and Brandon Lee, son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.

In Monday night’s episode, the group heads to Vegas for Brody’s DJ performance, but wildfires tear through Malibu

Pop Quiz, Hotshot: The Summer of Cinema ’94 – 25 Years On

The Keanu Reeves we all know and love, the super-agile, sharply dressed, rather taciturn action hero currently death-dealing his way through John Wick Chapter 3, was born 25 years ago, in the summer movie season of 1994 (yes that’s right…25 years ago!).

Until that point, Reeves had been a pin-up presence in arthouse treasures like River’s Edge and Permanent Record whose stock had risen sharply when he and Alex Winter had their first Excellent Adventure in 1988. After that, it soon became impossible to shake off his image as a loveable perma-stoned surf-jockey, never more than five seconds away from a ‘Woah, duuude.’

Attempts at breaking away from this unwanted mould and tackle more highbrow fare like Little Buddha often led to snide critical derision and more than a few titters, especially at his ‘English’ accent in Bram Stoker’s Dracula – ‘I know whhair the bahstud sleeps, in Carfax Abbehh.’

The Hills Recap: Can You Believe There Was Drama at the Crystal Party?

The Hills Recap: Can You Believe There Was Drama at the Crystal Party?
Only on a show like The Hills: New Beginnings could one character look at another in earnest and sigh, “Maybe at the crystal party, we’ll see what happens.”

The party in question was an $80,000 shindig for Spencer and Heidi Pratt’s we-can’t-believe-it’s-a-real-company Pratt Daddy Crystals, which is allegedly so successful that it’s become the couple’s primary source of income. And just as Audrina Patridge foretold, we did see what happened.

The Hills Recap: What Really Happened Between Spencer and Brody?

The drama between Spencer Pratt and Brody Jenner reached boiling point on The Hills: New Beginnings Season 1 Episode 3.

But what was the reason for their latest big bust-up?

Spencer was mad that his former friend was not drinking or partying like he used to. What was lost in Spencer was that this is almost a decade later, and many people start to grow up.

Brody left Brandon Lee's pool party early as a result of the arguing, and that's when Spencer revealed the real villain in this narrative:

Kaitlynn Carter, Brody's wife. Spencer blaming women for things is just par for the course. Remember the way he treated Lauren Conrad back on the Og series?

The Hills Recap: Mischa Barton Finally Stands Up to 'Scum Bag' Perez Hilton

The Hills Recap: Mischa Barton Finally Stands Up to 'Scum Bag' Perez Hilton
Here’s the thing: We weren’t initially planning on covering The Hills: New Beginnings on a weekly basis, but then came last week’s inexplicably hypnotic premiere, and now here we are. Plus, it’s Ok to be a little nostalgic for the 2000s.

One thing we haven’t missed about that bygone era, however, is Perez Hilton, whose appearance at Stephanie Pratt’s welcome back party felt perfectly natural and not the least bit staged for reasons of drama. Like Maleficent rolling into Princess Aurora’s Christening, the celebrity gossip blogger appeared amidst a cloud of thick pink smoke,

The Films That Have Us Very Excited For This Year’s Fantasia Festival

Running from 11th July – 1st August, the International Fantasia Festival will once again descend on Montreal Canada for its 23rd year of entertainment. The festival embraces the more unusual films on the market, and over the years has been home to some very special movies. Every year the programme appears to get stronger, and this year is no exception. In fact, the programming is so strong this year that I really struggled to narrow the following list of films to be excited about, to just ten. My original ‘shortlist’ was closer to thirty films. Happily for attendees this should mean that no matter what you decide to watch, you’re in for a treat, but here are the films that have got this writer pretty hyped.

Critters Attack!

Critters is an often overlooked horror franchise. The four-film series followed a group of ferocious fluff-ball aliens as they ate their way

MTV’s ‘The Hills’ Revival Marks Second-Highest Rated Cable Premiere of 2019 Among Young Adults
The Hills” returned to MTV with a new revival on Monday, marking the second most-watched cable series premiere among young adults of 2019.

With a 0.70 rating among adults 18-34, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-same-day metric, “The Hills: New Beginnings” is only topped by MTV’s “Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D and Vinny.” MTV sister network VH1’s “Cartel Crew” currently holds the number three spot.

The long-awaited revival was heavily promoted on the network, including at the MTV Movie & TV Awards last week and the Video Music Awards last fall, and will likely see a lift in delayed viewing.

‘The Hills: New Beginnings': Here’s What Everyone’s Up to 10 Years Later
Nearly 10 years after the infamous ending to “The Hills” rocked MTV, the iconic reality TV series is back with a new revival.

The Hills: New Beginnings” reunites much of the show’s original cast, including the once-villainous Pencer and Heidi Pratt, the Kardashian-adjacent Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge and her on-again-off-again flame Justin “Bobby” Brescia and “The City” star Whitney Port. It also adds a couple of big name newcomers to its cast in “The O.C.” alum Mischa Barton and Brandon Lee, son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.

In the intervening years, much of the cast’s wild youth has been spent and the first half of the “New Beginnings” premiere was reserved for reflecting on all the major life changes since the Hollywood backdrop was rolled away.

The Hills: New Beginnings Premiere: Everything We Learned, Including Why Pamela Anderson Moved to France

The Hills: New Beginnings Premiere: Everything We Learned, Including Why Pamela Anderson Moved to France
New beginnings began anew on Monday with the premiere of The Hills: New Beginnings, MTV’s long-awaited (and bizarrely edited) revival of its classic reality soap opera.

We entered New Beginnings with two burning questions: First, will any characters discuss The Hills‘ original finale, which revealed the entire series to have been scripted? And perhaps more importantly, how does former O.C. star Mischa Barton fit into this equation? (We also have endless questions about the show’s decision to credit Barton as “introducing,” but those feel like off-camera discussions.)

Monday’s all-over-the-place premiere (titled “I Don’t Hold Grudges… Jk!
