De-Aging for TV: VFX Helped John Goodman Lose Decades in 'The Righteous Gemstones'

De-Aging for TV: VFX Helped John Goodman Lose Decades in 'The Righteous Gemstones'
The notion of de-aging an actor with digital techniques — for instance, Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Netflix's upcoming The Irishman — has been a big topic in the motion picture business. But is it also a technique that can be applied to TV schedules and budgets?

De-aging techniques vary greatly, as do the budgets. The most sophisticated methods involve the creation of a fully digital human, as seen in The Irishman as well as to create a fully digital Will Smith in Gemini Man. Marvel has applied other techniques to de-age the likes of Robert Downey Jr.'s ...

Andrew Scott has to defy some major comedy bias to win the Golden Globes’ TV supporting actor prize

Andrew Scott has to defy some major comedy bias to win the Golden Globes’ TV supporting actor prize
Andrew Scott, aka Hot Priest, was so cruelly snubbed by the Emmys that even Bradley Whitford is still thinking about it. The “Fleabag” star might get some justice at the Golden Globes, where he is not only expected to earn a nomination but a win as well. However, you may want to think twice before picking him to take home the statuette.

Scott would only be the fourth person this century to win the Globes’ catch-all Best TV Supporting Actor award for a comedy series. The other three are Robert Downey Jr., who won for his comeback on “Ally McBeal” in 2001, Jeremy Piven for “Entourage” in 2008 and Chris Colfer for “Glee” in 2011. Yup, it’d be nine years between victories for comedy players should Scott prevail in January. The situation is even more dire on the actress side: Only two winners this century have been for comedies, Kim Cattrall for

Marvel Has Big Plans For Captain Britain In The McU, May Join The Avengers

We’ve had nearly a decade of Captain America in the McU, so when’s it going to be Captain Britain‘s turn? The franchise will soon introduce its first English superhero in the form of Kit Harington’s Black Knight, so it seems like the time for Brian Braddock to make his live-action debut could be nearing, and apparently, one name that Marvel has on their wishlist is Henry Cavill.

Sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who revealed that General Ross will return in the She-Hulk series, which was backed up by trusted industry insider Daniel Rpk last week, and that Wiccan will show up in WandaVision, which has also been confirmed – have told us that Marvel has big plans for the hero and that he could go on to join the New Avengers line-up, which will debut at some point in Phase 5. We weren’t given any specifics beyond that,

A Three Amigos Remake with Chris Hemsworth? Interesting

Reading the article in GeekTyrant by Joey Paur it almost seems as though Chris Hemsworth wants to recreate The Three Amigos as a way to keep hanging around Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., but I could be wrong. Maybe it’s the way the article is written or his quote is taken, but it really does seem as though he’s simply looking for another project that could keep the three of them together and hanging out on a more regular basis. That almost sounds like a kid just trying to keep his friends around so that he won’t get lonely,

"Metal Men" - What Price Humanity ?

Following the success of Marvel's 'Iron Man' (Robert Downey Jr.) appearing in 10 blockbuster films since 2008, development continues on a live-action take of DC Comics "Metal Men", supported by a new 12-issue series, now available, written by Dan Didio and illustrated by Shane Davis, Michelle Delecki, with covers by Davis and Philip Tan:

" the new series, the 'Metal Men' discover a warehouse of old robots, older versions of themselves, that are junked and apparently left in disrepair by their creator rather than being rebuilt after their heroic battles.

"Meanwhile, a mysterious liquid 'Nth' metal has appeared in the science site at 'Challenger Mountain'…the same Challenger Mountain that came through from the 'Dark Multiverse' and landed in 'Gotham'.."

"I'm a longtime fan of the 'Metal Men'", said Didio, "With this new series, we explore the essence of what makes the 'Metal Men' human...

Film Review: ‘Jay and Silent Bob Reboot’

  • Variety
In a film culture overrun by Marvel epics, wild-stunt action flicks, and other grandiose juvenilia, it is often said that the mid-budget, script-driven movie for adults is becoming a thing of the past. But don’t tell that to Kevin Smith, whose “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” a shaggy antic throwaway that premiered Tuesday in the first of two one-night shows at 600 theaters (it will travel out after that in a 65-city road-show release), stands (sort of) as a proud exception to the rule of corporate blockbuster overkill.

It’s without doubt a script-driven movie — not just because Smith, after 25 years as a filmmaker, wouldn’t know an expressive (or well-lit) camera angle if it bit him, but because he remains, in his rowdy stoner never-made-a-dick-joke-he-didn’t-like way, a furiously flowing wordsmith, one who can write the kind of spontaneous sick-comedy monologues that heat up the screen. The budget for

Chris Hemsworth Wants Three Amigos! Remake with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. & Himself
Avengers: Endgame marked the last time star Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. will all headline a movie together for the foreseeable future, but Hemsworth likes the idea of the three reuniting for a modern take on the cult classic comedy Three Amigos!.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actors are of course well-known for playing the beloved superheroes Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. After appearing in many of their own movies, the three would co-star in many McU crossovers, most notably in the Avengers series. Now, Chris Hemsworth believes their on-screen chemistry could carry over well to a comedy along the lines of a new version of Three Amigos.

"That was so sad about kind of finishing Endgame, was just 'Were we ever going to get to hang out again?' And I immediately started thinking 'What else could we do?'" Hemsworth told fans at Ace Comic-Con Chicago.

Chris Hemsworth Says He Wants To Remake Three Amigos! with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.

While Chris Hemsworth will continue to play Thor in the McU, it’s safe to say that we’ll never see him reteam with Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr. in any of the future Marvel films. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t work together on another film project! In fact, Hemsworth actually has a delightful idea for the three of them!

During a panel at Ace Comic-Con Chicago over the weekend, Hemsworth said that he would love to reteam with Evans and Downey in another project, and that project would be a remake of the movie, Three Amigos!. Here’s what he said:

"Absolutely. I would love to. That was so sad about kind of finishing Endgame, was just 'Were we ever going to get to hang out again?' And I immediately started thinking 'What else could we do?' And I'd love to. We could remake the Three Amigos!

Captain Britain May Make His McU Debut In The Excalibur Movie

Is Captain Britain about to make his McU debut? The English superhero has been rumored for years to be on his way to live-action but so far, nothing concrete has materialized. However, the introduction of Kit Harington’s Black Knight in The Eternals suggests that Marvel is ready to start bringing in some other vigilantes from across the pond and we might just know where Cap Britain will first appear.

As we reported on earlier today, Marvel is planning on making a movie based on the Excalibur superhero team from the comics. An off-shoot of the X-Men, many famous mutants such as Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde and Phoenix (Rachel Summers) have been part of the roster over the years. However, they’re nearly always led by Captain Britain and sure enough, we’ve heard from our sources – the same ones who told us The CW was developing an Arrow spinoff back

‘Kinetta’ Trailer: Yorgos Lanthimos’ Daring First Feature Finally Gets a U.S. Release — Exclusive

‘Kinetta’ Trailer: Yorgos Lanthimos’ Daring First Feature Finally Gets a U.S. Release — Exclusive
For all of his seemingly out-there ideas and distinctive obsessions, Oscar-nominated Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos is one of world cinema’s most consistent creators. Even in his earliest solo feature, the hard-to-find “Kinetta,” Lanthimos’ unique aesthetic and worldview takes center stage. In the 2005 feature, bound for a U.S. release after all these years, Lanthimos’ panache for building out disturbing self-contained worlds that are bound by their own wild logic and weirdo rules is clear.

Though the film screened at various festivals in 2005 and 2006, it was never released stateside. Thanks to New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, the film will finally be available to American audiences, care of an upcoming run at the Queens institution. The film stars Aris Servetalis, Evangelia Randou, and Costas Xikominos.

Per the film’s official synopsis: “In a desolate Greek resort town, three tenuously connected people are motivated by mysterious impulses. A plain-clothes

Universal Renames Robert Downey Jr. Vehicle To ‘Dolittle’, Issues First Trailer

  • Deadline
Update: Universal Pictures has renamed The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle to simply Dolittle. The film will still be released wide on its previously announced date of January 17, 2020. The studio also issued the production’s first trailer.

The move marks yet another shuffling for the film, which originally was slated for an April 12, 2019 release date, then moved to January 17, 2020, which is the four-day Mlk weekend.

The move is seen as an effort to capitalize on early winter rolling vacations overseas; not to mention, Q1 has served as a great play period for family fare, including Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle holdover business, which generated close to 60% of its $404.5 million domestic box office after Christmas, not to mention other titles like Disney’s Moana and Fox’s Night at the Museum 1 and 3, which legged out overseas in the January play period.

Dolittle was originally following in the wake of

Robert Downey Jr. is Doctor Dolittle in First Trailer for 'Dolittle' Movie

"We have no choice but to embark on this perilous journey..." Universal Pictures has debuted the magical first official trailer for the new Dolittle movie, titled in full (originally) The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. However, they are sticking with only the short title of Dolittle officially, based on the classic stories of the famous physician who discovers that he can talk to animals. Robert Downey Jr. stars as the Doctor, with a live-action cast including Michael Sheen, Jessie Buckley, Antonio Banderas, Ralph Ineson, plus Jim Broadbent. The animal voice cast features Tom Holland as Jip, Marion Cotillard as Tutu, Rami Malek as Chee-Chee, Ralph Fiennes as Barry, Emma Thompson as Polynesia, Kumail Nanjiani as Plimpton, Selena Gomez as Betsy, John Cena as Yoshi, Octavia Spencer as Dab-Dab, Carmen Ejogo as Regine, and Craig Robinson as Fleming. This looks wildly imaginative, and adventurous, almost like a Disney movie - but is isn't.

Swashbuckling First Trailer For Robert Downey Jr.'s Dolittle

The first trailer and poster have been revealed for Robert Downey Jr.’s upcoming film Dolittle, which is a reimaging of the classic Dr. Dolittle. The film comes from Universal Pictures, but it looks and feels like the kind of animal adventure movie that Disney would make.

This will be the actor’s first movie to be released after retiring from Marvel with Avengers: Endgame. Downey Jr. and his creative team certainly ended up doing something very grand and different with this property. As you’ll see, this is going to be a swashbuckling adventure, and I was not expecting that. It certainly looks like the kind of movie that will entertain audiences.

The film also has a great supporting cast of actors that includes Jessie Buckley, Harry Collett, Tom Holland (Dog), Rami Malek (Gorilla), Octavia Spencer (Duck), Kumail Nanjiani (Ostrich), John Cena (Polar Bear), and Emma Thompson (Parrot). Other stars include Antonio Banderas,
