‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Stars Discuss Film’s Costume Design
Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio rave about “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” costume designer Arianne Phillips in a new featurette obtained exclusively by Variety.

“She’s so incredible. She contextualizes the time period and people really will be transported into what fashion was like in the ’60s,” Robbie says.

“I was blown away by the costumes of this movie,” DiCaprio adds.

Phillips eyes a third Oscar nomination for her costuming on Quentin Tarantino’s hit “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Phillips, who worked with Madonna for two decades, collaborated with Tom Ford on both his movies.

Phillips says being a costume designer is like “being a character detective.” The costumes “are the visual clues that help move the characters along.”

For “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Phillips was tasked with costuming DiCaprio, Robbie and Brad Pitt, transporting the cast and audience back to Los Angeles 1969.

Fka Twigs Strips Off Expectations on Her New Album ‘Magdalene’

While she was in town headlining AfroPunk Atlanta, Fka Twigs figured she’d stop by America’s oldest African-American strip club. In front of the all-female crowd at Blue Flame, the avant-pop star showed off the six months of intensive pole dance training she underwent last year. It wasn’t just a workout. Pole dancing was a reclamation of the “Madonna-whore” dichotomy that inspired Twigs’ opulent, trap-adjacent sophomore album: the excellent Magdalene.

Establishing Mrs Coulter as a complex villain who attracts and repels in equal measure was episode two’s most important job, and one it nailed. Why Fall Is Shaping Up to Be the Season of the Pop Music Comeback

Why Fall Is Shaping Up to Be the Season of the Pop Music Comeback
Do call it a comeback. While some of the biggest stories in music this year have come courtesy of deserving newcomers or breakthrough talents like Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish and Lizzo, the concept of the celebratory pop music return has been alive and well in 2019 thanks to long-awaited releases from the likes of Avril Lavigne, the Backstreet Boys, Madonna and, most notably (and successfully), the Jonas Brothers. And it's that narrative—the one of the beloved pop act making their highly-anticipated and, in some cases, oft-delayed return—that remains the dominant one as the year comes to its eventual close, making fall the season of the pop music comeback. The comebacks were set into motion...

Antonio Banderas Says He Had 'No Idea' Madonna Was Pursuing Him in the '90s
Before they costarred in the 1996 film Evita, Madonna had a major crush on Antonio Banderas — and he had no clue.

The actor, 59, spoke about the pop singer’s crush on him during an interview on Sirius Xm’s The Jess Cagle Show on Friday while promoting his Pedro Almodovar film Pain and Glory.

“A lot of people in America actually became aware of you when Madonna did her Truth or Dare documentary where she spent a great deal of the movie obsessing over you and how you wouldn’t call her back,” Jess Cagle told Banderas.

The actor nodded and said,

Emily Dickinson‘s most famous poem (“Because I could not stop for Death – He kindly stopped for me”) is front and center in Apple’s gothic comedy series “Dickinson.” Actress and singer/songwriter Hailee Steinfeld portrays the title character in this coming-of-age dramedy set in the 1800s, though with a modern sensibility. Throughout the 10-episode first season, which debuted November 1 on Apple TV+, Emily deals with her sexuality, her burgeoning career and her curious fascination with death. With Steinfeld’s star on the rise, will awards voters “kindly stop” for her on their way to filling out their ballots?

The Voice Recap: Who Got Ko'd on Night 2 of the Knockouts? — Plus, Could Blake Shelton Be Trying to Lose?
If going into Tuesday’s Knockouts on The Voice, you felt like you’d been smacked upside the head, you weren’t alone. I, too, was seeing stars — and not entirely in a good way.

During the Battles, Blake Shelton had let go Cory Jackson, a contestant who was all but laminated in star quality, in favor of the just-pleasant-enough Zach Bridges. And in Monday’s Knockouts, he’d dumped Marina Chello after she’d practically sung a lung out in favor of Cali Wilson, whose performance had been mostly pretty but somewhat uneven. I was so flummoxed, I started to think,
