Hawksier than "Hawksian"

Let me see the magic of the Marvel cinema "And darkness strives to capture the light of freedom, but it cannot do that, because it is centered on its own lust... and turns to darkness again." ...It's funny how Avengers Endgame is kind of dark with dulled out colors mostly.

I love you

You really are the greatest though.

Wouldn't having it be "Jesus died from our sins", rather than "Jesus died for our sins" be less toxic?

What's that phrase, "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"...like The Idiot?

Sweetheart

Rewatch The Yards (James Gray, 2000) Flight of the Red Balloon (Hou Hsiao-Hsien, 2007)

Baahubali 2 is really great.

I'm finishing the movie now.

We should never doubt each other.

I feel sleep deprived.

lol again I haven't eaten all day.

Ok headache is going away.

Come on, I barely made it to a bottle of Aleve.

My headache is really bad.

If you have any ideas, I'd like to know. That's all I got.

Help me.

My brain is still sore, it's a weird feeling. ...lol it's bad now.

Wasn't my idea. I thought it was genius.

Had to get rid of a silverfish.

Gotta go use the bathroom & stuff.

Yeah I stopped the movie 10-however many minutes ago. I'm right here... :(

I've always really liked how thoughtful you are, but it's like I'm really not used to it or something, I feel like I've taken too much of things you've done for me for granted.

What would I be without you?

I thought I was going to be falling asleep by the time I start the next movie, was physically & mentally feeling like shit...hypochondria again? I was constantly taking breaths to see if anything's going on, but my sinus is sore from earlier. Now the shitty feeling has gone down, I dunno.

When I was like 4 or something, I remember endlessly running away from a brunette girl of same age chasing me. I was born with asthma, I'd put my hands up when stopping to catch a breath & the girl would not stop & then fall down on concrete, that happened at least half a dozen times. Have I learned to handle that any better since then? Being a guy the way I am, it's difficult to not come off...questionable.

I would be trying to add more to the list, but I keep laughing when I look through it.

I need to rewatch more stuff (no Chinese movies, whoops), but that's the most "me" top 21 so far.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html I was looking at this page every few days or so, now I'm looking every night as the east coast has been getting increasingly worse.

https://assets.mubicdn.net/images/film/2096/image-w1280.jpg I like how Frank Tashlin went all the way from cartoons to live-action Jerry Lewis.

Guillermo del Toro should have watched Ponyo & taken notes before making The Shape of Water?

I've been experiencing some hypochondria or something...either that or the virus is extremely weak on me. I've had the lower back tooth on the ride side affecting my jaw on that side for years now (it pops all the time), smoking weed can make the headaches I get feel feverish & nauseating, which I was smoking a lot yesterday (more than usual). I couldn't tell until getting sleep & finding out later if my sinus was very slowly gaining an infection, but I could still see dust flying around in here after waking up earlier.

Somehow I didn't remember Marnie having that on the poster.

Knowing her, I'm sure she had a princess complex at 6.

I think I'll be sinking a lot of ratings down.

Gigi (1958) is bourgeois, which is why I struggled with it, probably wouldn't even like it if I rewatch it.

Rewatch The Rules of the Game (Jean Renoir, 1939)

Reminder here to add these to the top 100, since I'm still too lazy to... Parfait amour! (Catherine Breillat, 1996) Notorious (Alfred Hitchcock, 1946) Floating Clouds (Mikio Naruse, 1955) The Sleeping Beauty (Catherine Breillat, 2010) She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (John Ford, 1949) Katzelmacher (Rainer Werner Fassbinder, 1969) La promesse (Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne, 1996) The Hole (Tsai Ming-liang, 1998) Friday Night (Claire Denis, 2002) Flowing (Mikio Naruse, 1956) Une vieille maitresse (Catherine Breillat, 2007)

Word

So do all the Trump public speeches now involve coining the word "China" over & over again & referring to our obstacle as the "invisible enemy"?

Could this Aki Kaurismaki guy have adapted to my methods? Younger him looks akin to the other kids...

Don't mind me, I'll just use this cropped photo as my phone background for now.

Don't worry USA, we'll get past this Chinese Virus together as a nation.

2019 "watchlist" updated 6 Underground (Michael Bay) 1917 (Sam Mendes) Bacurau (Kleber Mendonca Filho & Juliano Dornelles) Beanpole (Kantemir Balagov) Dark Waters (Todd Haynes) Gemini Man (Ang Lee) Heimat Is a Space in Time (Thomas Heise) Marriage Story (Noah Baumbach) Martin Eden (Pietro Marcello) Pain and Glory (Pedro Almodovar) Richard Jewell (Clint Eastwood) Ride Your Wave (Masaaki Yuasa) Roubaix, une lumiere (Arnaud Desplechin) The Farewell (Lulu Wang) The Golden Glove (Fatih Akin) The Souvenir (Joanna Hogg) Us (Jordan Peele) Where'd You Go, Bernadette (Richard Linklater)

I've watched L'amour braque 3 times & it just hit me yesterday that the Mary character has the psychology of Medusa (the actual story is a toxic fairy tale), but the film as whole is like a kaleidoscope. I'm still not quite sure what all of this means, when the Le caid guy fetches the video tape with the drugged up murdering of Mary's mother... *skims through books on top of crates* "Ba-ku-nin... Comrade Vit-a-man..." "Che Guevara, "The Bolivian Diaries"." "Maurice Thorez... complete works, timeless." ""The Young Marx: The Misery of Philosophy", I know this." *gets to video tape collection* "Fred Astaire." *spins around* "Woody Allen. Who's that?" ""Gone with the Wind". Mickey I've got it!" Maybe it needs rewatched 10 more times for that & the rest of the film to be unraveled?

2019 Rankings, for films I liked 1. I Was at Home, But... (Angela Schanelec) 2. Young Ahmed (Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne) 3. The Irishman (Martin Scorsese) 4. Little Women (Greta Gerwig) 5. Ad Astra (James Gray) 6. Uncut Gems (Ben & Joshua Safdie) 7. Chasing Dream (Johnnie To) 8. Domino (Brian De Palma) 9. Shakti (Martin Rejtman) 10. A Hidden Life (Terrence Malick) 11. The Dead Don't Die (Jim Jarmusch) 12. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Quentin Tarantino) 13. Parasite (Bong Joon-ho)

Rohmer movie rankings 1. Perceval le Gallois (1978) 2. The Green Ray (1986) 3. A Tale of Winter (1992) 4. A Summer's Tale (1996) 5. Pauline at the Beach (1983) 6. The Aviator's Wife (1981) 7. Claire's Knee (1970) 8. The Tree, the Mayor and the Mediatheque (1993) 9. My Night at Maud's (1969) 10. Triple Agent (2004) 11. The Romance of Astrea and Celadon (2007) 12. My Girlfriend's Boyfriend (1987) 13. Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle (1987) 14. Les Rendez-vous de Paris (1995) 15. A Tale of Springtime (1990) 16. Love in the Afternoon (1972) 17. Autumn Tale (1998) 18. A Good Marriage (1982) 19. Suzanne's Career (1963) 20. Full Moon in Paris (1984) 21. The Lady and the Duke (2001) 22. Le Signe du Lion (1962) 23. The Marquise of O (1976) 24. La Collectionneuse (1967) 25. The Bakery Girl of Monceau (1963)

Time goes faster now for some reason...

I'm only editing that silly list a bit at a time, that stuff takes up too much time. It's funny how watching Joker made me want to put The Seventh Seal on it already, I guess both movies are supposedly about existential crisis & nihilism with misanthropic characters.

Votes: 9,506 | Gross: $1.28M

3/11 - The boyfriend has some male chastity thing going on. One thing some Breillat films explore is male limpness when things should be sizzling, but in this one the guy might as well be a zealous priest, even though when they go out he takes upon dancing with other women. This one is kind of pornographic, but with realism(?), the girl tries to blow his limp thing & he makes her feel shitty about herself over it, it's like he gets all his power from leading women on. The girl gets herself into some encounters that are mechanical & rough, which makes getting into BDSM (with the gentlest guy in the film) a tiny leap. When the boyfriend does pick up on how his invisible leash on her is off, he actually does gets her to do it, which while she is on top of him she says "you be the woman, I'll be your guy, I'll screw you", which he pushes her off the bed. Somehow from a "drop" of fluid, she is impregnated. When she is to give birth, the boyfriend is still out cold from heavy drinking the night before, so she has her BDSM guy pick her up, before leaving she turns on all the gas stoves.

Votes: 1,041 | Gross: $0.41M

3/9 - One part that really clinches it together is when balding guy first gets her to his hotel room. Even though the girl continually snipes at balding guy (he's an asshole to her to begin with) & resists advancing moves he makes, he still squirms his way & advances. By the time he is dangerously close to getting into her, the girl has already had herself positioned like she's just laying down to die for a few minutes, eventually hitting him down there...when he recovers, he gets to choking her, only to break down & weep.
