Votes: 2,398

The ending was lame, and John C. McGinty had much too small a role.

Votes: 110,267 | Gross: $168.27M

I actually enjoyed it. Thought it was funny. "Men were building pyramids back in your day." Black raven flies into John Travolta's face. Good times.

Director: Andrew Haigh | Stars: Charlotte Rampling, Tom Courtenay, Geraldine James, Dolly Wells

Votes: 28,501 | Gross: $4.25M

It took me a long time to get through this one. Lots of scenes of the wife just looking perplexed; not knowing exactly what she's thinking...the dude puttering around smoking where he's not supposed to, etc. I didn't even know what the catastrophic event in his past was clearly until I read it on imdb

Votes: 150,149 | Gross: $30.01M

Much better than I thought it would be. Discovering that I really enjoy period pieces, especially if I lived through or had some knowledge thereof. What came out in the movie was her horrible mother. It's no wonder Tonya turned into the trailer trash we all grew to hate.

12. Darkest Hour (2017)

PG-13 | 125 min | Biography, Drama, History

75 Metascore

In May 1940, the fate of Western Europe hangs on British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Adolf Hitler, or fight on knowing that it could mean a humiliating defeat for Britain and its empire.

Director: Joe Wright | Stars: Gary Oldman, Lily James, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendelsohn

Votes: 143,914 | Gross: $56.47M

Seen on outbound flight to Phils. Much of this paralled Dunkirk, the movie. Although for the first time, we see some of his kids. They seemed almost a non-entity to him, as his love and dedication was for the state. Also, there was a touching scene where Churchill goes to the Underground, and starts polling people as to whether they wanted to make peace with Germany. I didn't realize that Chamberlain and his supporters (particularly Lord Halifax) were very much on him and for, negotiating a peace treaty with Germany with Italy as the moderator.

13. Molly's Game (2017)

R | 140 min | Biography, Crime, Drama

71 Metascore

The true story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target.

Director: Aaron Sorkin | Stars: Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera

Votes: 110,970 | Gross: $28.78M

Didn't realize it was Kevin Costner playing the father until the movie was 2/3 over. Seen on outbound flight to Philippines. The idea was brought up of how you must be tough on your kids for them to over perform. Kevin was, and all three of his kids reached high levels of success.

Director: Antoinette Jadaone | Stars: James Reid, Nadine Lustre, Yayo Aguila, Luis Alandy

Votes: 347

Seen at Ayala Cinema with Wella. Movie was good, but not 8.7 good. I see now with the paucity of reviews, and most probably coming from Filipinos. Shows how the working daughter is expected to contribute to family. Not optional.

15. Doctor Strange (2016)

PG-13 | 115 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

72 Metascore

Director: Scott Derrickson | Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong

Votes: 538,096 | Gross: $232.64M

Seen with Lyn at the apt in Colton. She recommended watching it, and I was only too happy to comply. I was hoping they would go more into the "mind over matter" stuff, but outside of one incident atop Mt. Everest.....it seemed the good Doctor transformed himself into the Master too quickly.

16. Nights in Rodanthe (2008)

PG-13 | 97 min | Drama, Romance

39 Metascore

A doctor, who is travelling to see his estranged son, sparks with an unhappily married woman at a North Carolina inn.

Director: George C. Wolfe | Stars: Diane Lane, Richard Gere, Christopher Meloni, Viola Davis

Votes: 21,676 | Gross: $41.85M

Way too formulaic, not to the extent of the agonizing sappiness of Janet Evanovich, but getting there. Let's throw two household cute names together, add a little drama, add a little death, and hopefully a tear or two at the end. THe viewing of the Breakers, the wild horses, I saw coming as soon as they were mentioned.

17. Set It Up (2018)

TV-14 | 105 min | Comedy, Romance

62 Metascore

Two corporate executive assistants hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses.

Director: Claire Scanlon | Stars: Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Lucy Liu, Taye Diggs

Votes: 34,636

Lucy Liu still got it. She still looks good albeit in a rather harsh way. Played some great music in this film, included a remake of Come Go With Me by Adam Bravin.

18. Big Fat Liar (2002)

PG | 88 min | Adventure, Comedy, Family

36 Metascore

After a young boy's school essay erroneously finds its way into the hands of a Hollywood producer who turns the idea into a hit film, the boy travels to Los Angeles to claim his credit.

Director: Shawn Levy | Stars: Frankie Muniz, Amanda Bynes, Paul Giamatti, Amanda Detmer

Votes: 33,070 | Gross: $47.81M

19. The Great Outdoors (1988)

PG | 91 min | Comedy

24 Metascore

A Chicago man's hope for a peaceful family vacation in the woods is shattered when the annoying in-laws drop in.

Director: Howard Deutch | Stars: Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Stephanie Faracy, Annette Bening

Votes: 36,225 | Gross: $41.46M

For a movie with both John Candy and Dan Akroyd, it was quite disappointing. Seen on the return flight from NYC. Sound quality was bad, and there were no subtitles. Odd seeing Annette Bening in a "supporting" role. The romance between the nobody kid and the local girl was also tacked on.

20. Gerald's Game (2017)

TV-MA | 103 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

77 Metascore

While trying to spice up their marriage in their remote lake house, Jessie must fight to survive when her husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her handcuffed to their bed frame.

Director: Mike Flanagan | Stars: Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Chiara Aurelia, Carel Struycken

Votes: 71,296

Saw with Lyn in Cebu. Got to my claustrophobia early, but that passed.

21. Johnny English Strikes Again (2018)

PG | 89 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

39 Metascore

After a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all of the active undercover agents in Britain, Johnny English is forced to come out of retirement to find the mastermind hacker.

Director: David Kerr | Stars: Rowan Atkinson, Ben Miller, Olga Kurylenko, Emma Thompson

Votes: 52,273 | Gross: $4.41M

I think it's funnier when Atkinson speaks sparingly; however, that being said, this still had it's funnier moments. Boff as his sidekick also made for a funny pair, as in the scene where Boff was being chased by the dogs.

22. Borg vs. McEnroe (2017)

R | 107 min | Biography, Drama, Sport

63 Metascore

The story of the 1980 tennis rivalry between the placid Björn Borg and the volatile John McEnroe.

Director: Janus Metz | Stars: Sverrir Gudnason, Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgård, Tuva Novotny

Votes: 22,339 | Gross: $14.11M

I think I remember reading about how Borg had his whole life down to routines, and I can definitely remember when he retired. It sent shock waves through the sporting community. I think that epic match was also what led to the infamous "Bjorn wins, Bjust Barely SI cover!

23. Adrift (I) (2018)

PG-13 | 96 min | Action, Adventure, Biography

56 Metascore

A true story of survival, as a young couple's chance encounter leads them first to love, and then on the adventure of a lifetime as they face one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history.

Director: Baltasar Kormákur | Stars: Shailene Woodley, Sam Claflin, Jeffrey Thomas, Elizabeth Hawthorne

Votes: 37,564 | Gross: $31.45M

Director: Mel Smith | Stars: Rowan Atkinson, Peter MacNicol, John Mills, Pamela Reed

Votes: 91,218 | Gross: $45.32M

Saw with Lyn in Cebu. This is the muted, younger Bean version. The supporting cast was pretty weak, although a surprise cameo from Burt Reynolds.

25. No Strings Attached (I) (2011)

R | 108 min | Comedy, Romance

50 Metascore

A guy and girl try to keep their relationship strictly physical, but it's not long before they learn that they want something more.

Director: Ivan Reitman | Stars: Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes

Votes: 200,710 | Gross: $70.66M

26. Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

PG-13 | 147 min | Action, Adventure, Thriller

86 Metascore

Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race against time after a mission gone wrong.

Director: Christopher McQuarrie | Stars: Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg

Votes: 249,961 | Gross: $220.16M

I actually could follow what was going on in this one; unlike so many other MI films. And the scene at the end, with the race to defuse the two nuclear bombs, was truly suspense like no other.

27. Hail, Caesar! (2016)

PG-13 | 106 min | Comedy, Drama, Music

72 Metascore

A Hollywood fixer in the 1950s works to keep the studio's stars in line.

Director: Stephen Chbosky | Stars: Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson, Izabela Vidovic, Julia Roberts

Votes: 117,411 | Gross: $132.42M

29. The Magnificent Seven (2016)

PG-13 | 132 min | Action, Adventure, Western

54 Metascore

Seven gunmen from a variety of backgrounds are brought together by a vengeful young widow to protect her town from the private army of a destructive industrialist.

Director: Antoine Fuqua | Stars: Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio

Votes: 172,143 | Gross: $93.43M

AS much as I love Denzelle Washington, he does not make for a good cowboy. The actor who played Bogue personified evil in a very convincing way.

30. A Frosty Affair (2015 TV Movie)

TV-14 | 96 min | Adventure, Comedy, Romance

A rom-com about the adventures of a small town teacher, Kate Carter, going back to the city for her wedding. After a blizzard strikes, she is forced to travel with a stranger named Redford who leaves her questioning her future plans.

Votes: 1,021

The prospect that two people could meet, share a few laughs and dangerous experiences, and bond out of a marriage? Not really....
