Entertainment Weekly has uncovered the supposed casting for the upcoming live-action/hybrid adventure that will bring the lovable picnic basket thief Yogi Bear to the big screen. The Hanna-Barbera cartoon will be adapted into a 3D film by director Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth), with a screenplay from Wild Hogs scribe Brad Copeland. We now know who will voice Yogi, his trusty little friend Boo Boo and who will play a documentary filmmaker trying to get a glimpse of these two hungry bears. Dan Aykroyd will voice Yogi, with pop star turned actor Justin Timberlake taking his side as the voice of Boo-Boo. The lovely Anna Faris, seen most recently in the twisted Observe and Report, will play the film's documentarian, a girl named Rachel. The story will revolve around two animated bears -- one of whom wears a collar and tie, but no shirt -- who are the antagonists to one Park »

From Movies Blog: Remember kids, the truth is always far, far stranger than fiction. It was a little more than a year ago that we found out the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series "Yogi Bear" would be getting a big screen treatment. There was no casting announced or anything like that; just that the project was happening with "Surf's Up" director Ash Brannon at the helm and that it would feature a mix of live-action and CG animation.
Well today, the plot thickened. Variety reports that Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are all in negotiations to join the cast of the movie, which will now be directed by "Journey to the Center of the Earth" helmer Eric Brevig from a script by Brad Copeland ("Wild Hogs").

I used to catch "Yogi Bear" frequently on the USA Network's Saturday morning animation block, "Cartoon Express." That's where I met all of my Hanna-Barbera friends in fact. »

The Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris are in contract discussions to headline the live-action/CG animated Yogi Bear movie for Warner Bros. If this is the first that you're hearing of a Yogi Bear movie, I'm sorry. These things happen.
Aykroyd would provide the voice for Yogi, who would be one of the film's CG creations. Timberlake would offer up the pipes for Boo Boo, which is pretty decent casting I suppose. Faris, best known for her roles as Cindy Campbell in four Scary Movie films, gets to play a real person in the movie, a documentary filmmaker.
Journey to the Center of the Earth's Eric Brevig will director from a screenplay by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). Donald De Line (Green Lantern) and Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight) are producing and filming gets underway in December somewhere in New Zealand. They must have better looking trees than we do. »

EW.com just got a big casting scoop on the unnecessary adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear, in addition to revealing a writer and a new director contrary to what we heard when the project was announced over a year ago. Eric Brevig (of Journey to the Center of the Earth previously) is directing a script from Brad Copeland ("Arrested Development", Wild Hogs) with Dan Aykroyd voicing the picnic basket stealing bear and Justin Timberlake taking on the role of Boo-Boo. Meanwhile, Anna Faris (seen in Observe and Report) will play a nature documentarian following Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. While there's not much mentioned in the vein of conflict or plot for this film, I'm left wondering how and if Ranger Smith will fit into this story. The frustrated character was such a huge part of the original cartoon that I can't imagine them leaving him out. »

For some reason I get these crazy thoughts in my head that some of these needless movies will just get announced in the trades and will ultimately be forgotten. Sometimes that's the case and other times... well, not so much, and not so much is the case today as Entertainment Weekly reports the animated feature film Yogi Bear is moving forward at Warner Bros. with Journey to the Center of the Earth helmer, Eric Brevig, directing. The big news today, however, is the folks that will be voicing the picnic-basket loving bear and his cohorts.
It seems Dan Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the CG-animated Yogi while Justin Timberlake is in talks to voice Boo-Boo while Anna Faris will voice Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.

I’m usually the snarky one, but the following statement is all Entertainment Weekly: “A remake of ‘Yogi Bear’ seems to be an incredibly unnecessary project but with these inspired casting choices perhaps a good movie will prevail.” I couldn’t agree more except for the part about inspired casting choices because I never spent time thinking, “Gosh, who would be good in a movie I don’t think should exist.” But it looks like Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake will take a trip to Jellystone Park to tell the tale of a bear wearing a hat and a bowtie who steals pick-a-nik baskets. Hit the jump for details.
EW reports that Anna Faris will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. I imagine the focus of her documentary is how and why are a large bear and a small bear able to talk, »

Entertainment Weekly has learned that Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in the hybrid live-action/computer animated feature based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear. The big screen 3D movie is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth), from a screenplay by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). What characters will Faris, Aykroyd and Timberlake play? Details after the jump. Faris will play a live-action character named Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker who is trying to film Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. Aykroyd will voice the computer animated Yogi, the lovable Jellystone Park bear who is notorious for his attempts at stealing picnic baskets from campers, much to the displeasure of Park Ranger Smith. Timberlake will voice the computer animated Boo-Boo, a bow-tied bear cub who acts as Yogi's constant companion and conscience. Park Ranger Smith has yet to be cast, »

Shadow Falls Memorial is ready for its next round of screenings, and the picture is locked. After premiering to a standing ovation at the Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, Ky, director Kendal Sinn is ready to expand his feature film across the world. Based on the acclaimed web series "Shadow Falls", the film concludes a story Sinn has been working on for over 10 years. As you may recall, the "Shadow Falls" series aired on various websites from 2004 to 2007 and was released on DVD by Elite Entertainment in January of 2007. "I wanted »

From Walt Becker the director of Wild Hogs, here’s the new trailer for Old Dogs… I guess going forward we can expect to see the third in the *og trilogy soon!
Anyway, this movie brings John Travolta together with Robin Williams in a new Disney comedy which looks like it might be quite entertaining. It has a great supporting cast which includes Kelly Preston, Seth Green, Ella Bleu Travolta, Lori Loughlin and Matt Dillon.
I’ve embedded the trailer below and we can expect to see it 5th March 2010.

From the director of Wild Hogs comes Old Dogs, which looks equally awful, but Walt Becker has a good rhyme scheme going for his career, especially considering Wild Hogs 2 is on the horizon.
That’s right, John Travolta is returning for another career thrashing with the director who showed promise with the Ryan Reynolds vehicle Van Wilder but little after that. Robin Williams is also here to squander the good will he’s earned with World’s Greatest Dad. In fact, this is looking like a bad situation for many talented people, including Seth Green, Justin Long, Matt Dillon, Rita Wilson, Dax Shepard and Bernie Mac (!?).
The film, scheduled to be released on November 25, 2009, centers around two friends (Travolta and Williams) who suddenly find themselves taking care of twin 7-year-olds. You wouldn’t be able to guess this from the trailer though, which reveals nothing about the plot and is horribly paced. »

Because we know you've been desperately waiting for it, the lovely Disney company has squeezed out a new trailer for Robin Williams/John Travolta comedy Old Dogs. Yes, it's clear this is aimed at the kiddie-centric Wild Hogs crowd (even the name sort of rhymes), since it's loaded to the gills with pratfalls and slapstick. And Seth Green being cradled by a gorilla. It's essentially one extended scene from the film, which sees Williams and his comrades trying to get into a zoo for his daughter's birthday party. They break in, land in...

In a promotional effort of "Old Dogs", Walt Disney Pictures has just put out a brand new clip via Yahoo! Movies. The nearly two minutes snippet puts Dan under the spotlight. The father of two young children gets to see first hand the side effects of wrong medication after his kids mess up his pill planner.
Dan is a divorcee, his best friend Charlie is a fun-loving bachelor, and they are on the verge of the biggest business deal of their lives. But, little that they knew, their lives are about to be turned upside down. When Dan's ex-wife, Vicki, suddenly shows up, she puts Dan in charge with the care of their young twins, leading them to one debacle after another and perhaps to a new-found understanding of what's really important in life.

If you are like me (and we can only hope you have more of a life than I do), then when you read the title you were hoping it was a remake or sequel to the awesome young boys monster movie from the 80’s, The Monster Squad. Alas, this is not the case because the Warner Bros film was previously titled Nightcrawlers and will be a supernatural action comedy. Great, that means somewhere Will Ferrell will make a ridiculous cameo or heaven forbid, have a starring role.
Warner Bros. Studios has tapped Mike Mitchell (Sky High, Shrek Forever After) to helm the new Monster Squad movie which will work off of a nine year-old spec script written by Brian Lynch and rewritten by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). Donald De Line (The Italian Job) is attached to produce and the studio hopes to start filming next summer 2010.
