Ok, First of all, hello out there to all IMDB fans, a big hug to all of y'all. You are all my boys for life and thanks to the mods of this site.(this is obviously my first time posting on a board here, as u can tell).
So why not comment on one of my new FAVORITE movies; Smokin' Aces.
This movie rocks and it is awesome in its own way, but every damn site I go to, just rips the movie a new one. Whether it is about the director, the actors, the plot, the ending or the characters, the movie is mostly dragged through the mud by critics. I don't understand how they can just wail on a good action flick and still give stoner movies like "Harold and Kumar" or "Napoleon Dynamite" a good review, it's like WTF???. Anyways, to clear any further doubts, Joe Carnahan is an awesome director and this movie pretty much cleared that out, if u haven't seen "Narc", that is.(Also an awesome flick). Why do they always try to compare him to Tarantino??. This movie doesn't even resemble any of Tarantino's movies. The Humor, the Plot, the Characters, the Gags, the Angle they shoot in, nothing is the same!. Don't get me wrong, I like Tarantion, the guy's a genius, but he's no Carnahan. Carnahan brings his own style to any movie, that is quite hard to compare to any movie. No director ever got ahead by copying someone else's directorial skills. Thats like saying Spielberg screwed up "War of the Worlds" because he did not have the same taste in Sci-Fi dominion as Lucas did in "Star Wars". It's preposterous. Why can't these film school flunkies(My own sweet term for critics) just realize Smokin' Aces is just a good ol' American good time to watch while grabbing a cold one with your buddies? Bring on the blood, bullets and pass me a beer any day of the week with this movie.
