The HBO drama, Conspiracy , about a secret meeting between Nazi leaders during World War II, won the Writers Guild of America award for best original longform movie in the TV category Saturday night. Another World War II drama, ABC's Anne Frank, received the WGA award for best adapted longform movie. An episode of The Sopranos titled "Pine Barrens," written by Terence Winter from a story by Winter and Tim Van Patten took the TV drama award, while the Everybody Loves Raymond episodes "Italy, Parts 1 & 2," written by Philip Rosenthal, took the comedy trophy. The Late Night with Conan O'Brien writing team earned the award for comedy/variety series, while the team behind the Kennedy Center Honors won for comedy/variety special.
