ME LLAMO SARA is interesting simply as a slice of life in Barcelona at the end of this century. That the film is entirely in the Catalan language adds to the curiosity value and authenticity of the plot. But ultimately, it's Elvira Minguez' superb portrayal of the title character that distinguishes the pic from other contemporary dramas of forty-something European women. Ms.Minguez (of Goya Best Picture-awarded "Dias Contados" and "La Buena Estrella") was named Best Actress for ME LLAMO SARA at Miami's 1999 Hispanic Film Festival. Don't miss her and this insightful movie if you have the opportunity to see it.
