Scene by Scene: Rahul and Anjali's Second Meeting in Kkhh

13 November 2009 5:12 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

If someone were to ask me when my love affair with Bollywood started, I'd say it was shortly after the release of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) aka Kkhh. In my hometown in South Africa, we have a small desi community and had no cinemas showing Indian films. We had to wait months after a film's release to watch it on VHS (not even DVD back then!)

I regard Kkhh as 'the' film to put Bollywood on a global map. I've seen it a dozen times and to this day, it still pulls at my heart strings - 11 years later!

The Story:

Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (Kajol) are best friends in college. Anjali is very tomboy-ish, wearing sporting gear and no make-up, while Rahul is a smooth talking college Romeo. Tina (Rani Mukerjee) transfers to the college from London. She's beautiful, feminine and graceful...everything Anjali isn't.

The way Aamir Khan fits the tag of a 'Perfectionist' to a 'T', the only word that justifies today's Birthday girl Kajol is 'Dynamite'. For starters, Kajol was born in Mumbai in to a Bengali-Marathi family who has got their terra firma in Bollywood. With the legendary actresses Tanuja as her mother and the late Shobhana Samarth as her grandmother, it was only but natural for Kajol to take to acting much faster than a fish would take to water. Srk refuses to let controversies rule his life

I don’t know why they do what they do. I do it because I’m moving on to do some other project that needs to be released. You don’t like ‘Barber’? Take it out. If I walk out of here and there are 500 people standing there, and I turn around and some girl says, ‘You hurt me, »

Shahrukh Khan closes in on Dhoom 3!

27 May 2009 12:24 PM, PDT | India.com | See recent India.com news »

If the recent buzz in B-town is to be believed, Yashraj Films is keen to rope in their old friend Shahrukh Khan as a villain in the much anticipated film Dhoom 3 .

King Khan as a villain? An actor whose image as a loverboy has been consolidated over the years with blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai now might play a cold villain in the third version of Dhoom ! Well, let’s not forget that Srk has played anti-hero in a number of films at the start of his career – be it ‘Baazigar’, ‘Anjam’ or ‘Darr’.

According to reports, the Yashraj camp is going through a tough phase as their last few movies couldn’t churn the expected revenue. And buyers are showing less interest in their forthcoming films. The only major hit was Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which starred Shahrukh.
