Prince William Hits the Streets
Ok, I know we all love the gossipy type of celeb news. What’s better than living vicariously through the stars we love, or love to hate? Their lives are just chock full of so much more drama than we can wrap our heads around, that our attention is immediately drawn to them to see the train wreck they could very well become.
However, I must say that I always find it a welcome change to hear about celebrities trying to use their fame for good. Granted, their motives for doing so might not always be the most sincere, but as long as they’re doing something moderately beneficial to others, I can’t judge them too harshly.
One celebrity that I feel has the right motives behind his most recent act of humanitarianism is Britain’s Prince William. Now, I know that being a future political figure puts Prince William …

Blu-ray review: ‘G-Force’ is the best movie about guinea pig spies ever made
9 hours ago
Disney’s G-Force is hands-down the best fusion of CGI technology and live action movie based on guinea pig spies working for the U.S. government ever made. With its arrival on Blu-ray, families can now watch rodents fight back the tide of megalomaniacs from the comfort of their own home. Is G-Force fun? Yes, if you’re under 10 or you’re infatuated with flashing lights, fast-moving camera work and arch-stereotypes wrapped in fur. Perhaps I’m being too hard. The camera-work isn’t that fast.
Though I surmised the plot earlier, it may prove helpful if I told you that Bill Nighy plays Saber, a businessman who the FBI (aka The Feds) thinks is selling military technology to the Chinese. He has implanted military-grade computer chips in his appliances, from coffee makers to telephones. The catch? The devices turn into killers. Yes, Mr. Coffee may throw burning-hot java on …

‘The Karate Kid’ Trailer
Well I’ll be. A remake of The Karate Kid starring Will Smith’s son and directed by the guy who delivered us The Pink Panther 2 looks … good. Or at least, not as much of an abomination as many expected.
Watch the trailer below and see for yourself. Obviously, this is the wrong setting for karate, but it’s good to see Jackie Chan in a role that might actually have him doing something.
The Karate Kid hits theaters on June 11, 2010.
From the official press release:
“In Columbia Pictures’ The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, …

T.I. Released from Jail
Rumors are swirling that rapper T.I. has been released from jail and sent to a half way house. I guess he’s half way to go back home to the good life.
Ybf reports that T.I.’s lawyer has confirmed that he’ll be serving a reduced sentence at a correctional center in Fulton County Airport.
Do you think T.I. received special treatment because he had good behavior or because he’s a celebrity?

Now You too Can Smell Like Eva Longoria
There is something I just don’t like about Eva Longoria but it’s time for all her fans to get excited because she’s jumped on the perfume bandwagon creating Eva by Eva Longoria.
Developed by Falic Fashion Group, her signature fragrence is set to hit shelves next Spring reports Wwd Beauty. While promoting her scent Eva opened up about being allergic to perfume saying, “I have always been allergic somewhat to all perfumes and really wanted to create something that every woman could wear. So I decided to create my own fragrance that is light, fresh and unique. I think the scent of a woman is extremely sexy and this scent will prove that.”
So she creates a perfume although she’s allergic to them? Oh yeah, now I remember why I don’t like Eva Longoria, because she doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut. …

Selena Gomez quits the Internet over “hurtful” comments
12 hours ago
Former Barney kid Selena Gomez can’t resist Googling herself (”Googling” as in searching for your name online, perverts!) and thanks to all the “hurtful” comments, the 17-year-old is going to quit the Internet cold-turkey.
That’s right. No more Internet ever, ever.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star recently stated that she will no longer upload video messages to YouTube due to trollish remarks and hacking attempts made on her account.
“I’ve given up the Internet,” says Gomez. “I don’t read comments, and I don’t go on any of the sites anymore, and I just feel better.”
Gomez went on to comment on the Internet-wide behavior of some “commentors” who feel they can say whatever they want behind a curtain of anonymity.
She added: “And it’s not about being a celebrity – you get on MySpace, Facebook, there’s all these different outlets where people can …

New Looney Tunes movie ‘Marvin the Martian’ lands its director
14 hours ago
Alex Zamm (Inspector Gadget 2) will direct Marvin the Martian for Warner Bros..
Along with Zamm, writers Paul Kaplan (TV’s Big Wolf on Campus) and Mark Torgrove have been tapped to write the script.
Marvin the Martian will be a fusion of live-action and CGI animation, similar to 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action, which was dismal failure for the studio.
Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove and Steve Crystal will produce the project.
Production is slated to begin sometime in 2010 with a release in 2011.
Looney Tunes: Back in Action starred Brendan Fraser and Jenna Elfman with appearcens from Heather Locklear, Joan Cusack and Steve Martin. The film earned near $21 million domestically with a budget of $80 million. Ouch.

Tom Hanks nears next Dan Brown adaptation ‘The Lost Symbol’
15 hours ago
While details are sketchy at best, Tom Hanks appears ready to play Robert Langdon again.
Hanks, who portrayed the professor of religious iconology and symbology in ’06’s The Da Vinci Code and it’s follow-up, ’09’s Angels & Demons, is expected to return to a third entry in the series, The Lost Symbol.
“[He is] all but ready to return to the character of Robert Langdon,” said a source.
According to CinemaBlend, Columbia Pictures is looking to fast-track the project for a 2012 release. There’s no official word from Hanks’ camp nor has director Ron Howard announced his return to helm a third film based on Dan Brown’s popular series of novels.
The thing is, even though Angels & Demons was barely a blip here in America, it made $350 million internationally. There’s still tons of money to be made here and Columbia is willing to keep spending to make more movies. The Lost Symbol is coming. …

New ‘Knight & Day’ Trailer Looks Nuts
As wacky and unlikeable as Tom Cruise is, you have to hand it to the guy: there’s a reason he got successful in this business in the first place. The man is dynamic as all get-out, and that charisma is half the reason that this trailer for the upcoming Knight & Day works.
Directed by 3:10 to Yuma’s James Mangold, Knight & Day will be in theaters on July 2, 2010. The construction of the trailer, while falling flat on some comedic beats, does give a good indication of what the plot of the film is.
Knight & Day stars Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Maggie Grace, Peter Sarsgaard and Paul Dano. Check out the trailer below!

Unexpected: Miley Cyrus breaks attendance record in London
21 December 2009 1:41 PM, PST
Pop tart Miley Cyrus was been selling out venues across the United States since her recent Wonder World tour began, but has our cousins across the pond been as receptive?
Yes. Yes, they have been. With gusto.
Cyrus has broken the record for performing for the largest ever attendance at London’s O2 arena.
The former Disney princess played to 16,196 rowdy fans on the third of of five concerts at the English capital. The arena holds up to 23,000 people.
Miley was supported by her brother Trace’s band Metro Station.
17-year-old Cyrus sold out her ten-date schedule. She told Irish TV channel Rte: “I will be in an apartment in London for Christmas. There will be 12 of us in total and my grandmother is going to cook dinner.”
Audience members were treated to Cyrus performing awkward booty pops, getting “hot and bothered” with male dancers and singing songs about artists she has never listened to. …

Mike Fisher is putting A Ring on it!
21 December 2009 12:24 PM, PST
Does anyone understand how people that have only dated for one year or less decide to get engaged, because that’s what Carrie Underwood and her now fiance Mike Fisher have decided to do says UsWeekly.
The Ottawa Senators hockey player confirmed the news during a press conference this morning saying, “It’s true. We’re both obviously excited and very happy.”
I seriously hope their marriage works out but come on, one year is not enough time to really get to know someone.

James Cameron says ‘Avatar 2′ will not be a prequel
21 December 2009 12:20 PM, PST
With all the talk of James Cameron turning the Avatar story into a trilogy, the popular director has noted that the next rumored installment will not be a prequel. If you are wanting to see how Sam Worthington’s character, Jake Sully, lost the use of his legs, you’re out of luck…and you’re sick.
Earlier this month Cameron talked about the proposed follow-ups to Avatar and commented on what the cost might look at for the production.
“…in terms of the pitch it was: Ok, you’ve spent a lot of money on the first one; on the second one we’ll be able to amortize it [the CG assets] and focus on the story and all that … and they bought that,” says Cameron regarding the assets and technology that has already been produced for the first film. Having these in place would make follow-ups cheaper to make and could …

Dean Sheremet Wants A Divorce & Money
21 December 2009 11:50 AM, PST
It’s always a little weird to me when men want spousal support from their wives when filing for divorce. Aren’t men supposed to be the bread winners? Well in this case, I guess not because Dean Sheremet has taken the first step in filing for divorce from his cheating wife country singer Leann Rimes.
The used to be cute couple married in 2002 but problems didn’t arrive (at least not publicly) until Mrs. Rimes wanted to play house or rather secret motel with her movie co-star Eddie Cibrian.
PopEater reports that Sheremet cited “irreconcilable differences” which just means his wife cheated and even if he wanted to forgive her and continue on with their marriage she wasn’t sticking around long enough to care. Leann may want to care now because her ex is seeking spousal support.
Dean wants to get paid for looking like a fool! Let …

Robert Rodriguez Talks ‘Machete’, ‘Sin City 2′
21 December 2009 7:34 AM, PST
Robert Rodriguez, a filmmaker I have a lot of respect for but am becoming more and more disappointed in as he sinks more of his time into schlocky 3D kids movies, recently gave up a lot of details regarding plans for sequels to Machete, Sin City 2 and Spy Kids 4 while on the set of Nimrod Antal’s Predators in Texas.
Here’s a breakdown of the details, with some commentary:
Machete Sequels:
“We always talked about making him a franchise character. Danny and I talked about it in ‘94…maybe Desperado that’s when I first mentioned the Machete character. So imagine that…he’s been bugging me since ‘94.
We want Machete, Machete Kills, and Machete Kills Again. [Laughter] That’s mine and Robert’s standards, you know? Every time I text him, he’ll text me back, Machete 2, coming up. [Laughs]“
So there’s a solid “maybe.” I could personally …

Screenwriter Hints at First ‘Bond 23′ Details
21 December 2009 7:14 AM, PST
I might be utterly alone in the world when I say that I really enjoyed Quantum of Solace. I love the brutality of the film, the tension that is never ceased — it is the cinematic equivalent of a bullet shredding through several of James Bond’s nemeses. Sure, the film had its problems with camera work, but most of those are cleared up on the smaller screen.
That said — the franchise needs new blood for the still-untitled Bond 23. Daniel Craig will always be great, and regular writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade do their best to ground the films in Ian Fleming’s character canon, but it’s time Paul Haggis stepped down and someone fresh took the torch.
That person is Peter Morgan, the writer of The Last King of Scotland, The Queen and The Damned United. So yes, a talented guy. While we don’t have a finished product from Morgan yet, …

‘Survival of the Dead’ Lands a Release Date
21 December 2009 6:57 AM, PST
As much flack as George A. Romero got for his poorly received Diary of the Dead, he’s still one of the most talented and singular voices in the business. His living dead flicks have always been his excuse to talk about current social issues that bother him, and he does so with style, which is why I can’t wait for his next: Survival of the Dead.
Luckily for us, Magnet Releasing has picked up Survival and scheduled it for a Spring release date — and a month earlier on video on demand networks.
From what I’ve heard about Survival of the Dead, Romero has grounded his latest zombie feature in a Western setting, which seems pretty nifty. Variety has a pretty good breakdown of plot description:
“Two powerful families maintain a semblance of order in the wake of the zombie holocaust. But as the inhabitants slowly die off, …

‘Avatar’s’ domestic opening slowed by snow storms, earns $73 million at box office
20 December 2009 8:12 PM, PST
Although hampered by furious snow storms in the north-eastern United States, James Cameron’s big-budget action feature Avatar took the No. 1 spot at the North American box office over the weekend.
The highly-touted sci-fi extravaganza, budgeted at around $250 million, scored $73 million domestically during its debut. Avatar undoubtedly suffered from the severe blizzards that landed on northern portion of the eastern American seaboard. Many experts see the film as having “long longs” thanks to heavy buzz and early critical acclaim. Fox should expect Avatar’s domestic gross at around $220-280 million.
Internationally, Avatar nearly earned back its investment with $232 million. This marks the best global launch ever for a non-sequel.
The weekend’s other debut, Did You Hear About the Morgans?, landed at No. 4 with $7 million and should enter first run theaters soon.
Disney’s The Princess and the Frog earned $12.2 million at No. 2, beating the Sandra Bullock sleeper hit, The Blind Side, …
