A Nightmare on Elm Street Heading Back for Reshoots
10 hours ago
Apparently Clash of the Titans isn't the only 80s remake in need of tinkering. According to a casting notice that went out Tuesday night, the Jackie Earl Hayley-led A Nightmare on Elm Street is searching for extras to play "Funeral Goers."
Project Name:nightmare on Elm Street (Reshoots)
Project Type:Feature Film
Rate/Compensation:$134

Funeral GOERSBackgroundMale or Female / 22 to 55 / CaucasianUpscale conservative men & women needed. *please state in your post if you have black clothing and a black trench. I also need a blonde woman with a grey suit (medium gray color).
Given the amount of bloodshed promised, it's unclear whose funeral is being filmed. It could be Freddy Krueger or any of his multiple victims resting in the casket.
While reshoots are never a welcome sign, Elm Street doesn't release until April 30, 2010 making them sound less worrisome than those needed for Clash of the Titans and its March 26 release date. …

Bryan Singer Says X-Men: First Class May "Supercede" Magneto
16 hours ago
Since agreeing to return to the X-Men franchise for X-Men: First Class, Bryan Singer has been talking to everyone about it. At one point, Singer expressed interest in possibly directing the proposed X-Men Origins: Magneto movie, but Singer told THR that First Class could "supercede" Magneto.
This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust.
After an initial draft from Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz, Singer wrote his own First Class treatment and brought Street Kings screenwriter Jamie Moss on board to write the script, which comic book fans found curious since Moss has no previous comic book adaptation experience. Singer defended the hiring, saying that Moss was the best writer for the job.
He's a really good writer, …

10 Must-Own DVDs (and Blu-rays) from the Decade
16 hours ago
The ReelzChannel 100 began when we asked Leonard Maltin for his favorite Hidden Gems of the decade. His list led the web team into a general discussion about the best movies of the decade and — after no small amount of debate, arguing, and (we're not proud to say) some petty name-calling — we decided we'd better bring it to an end with a company-wide vote. Then it was just a matter of tallying up the votes and hoping for the best. Lucky for us, ReelzChannel is filled with a staff ranging from movie lovers to movie fanatics. What turned out isn't what you'll find on a critic's best of list — instead it's what movie fans really enjoyed.
In day two of the ReelzChannel 100, we highlight the 10 best DVDs and Blu-rays from the past decade.

Iron Man 2 Will Not Be in 3D
Director Jon Favreau did not shoot Iron Man 2 in 3-D, but it was rumored that the movie might still be released in the format after it was revealed that a one-minute segment of the picture was converted into 3-D as a test. Now, the 3-d-centric site Market Saw is reporting that the sequel to Iron Man will not be released in 3D after all.
Got some rather bad news for S3D fans out there. I have it from a very good source (one very much in the know) that Iron Man 2 will Not be made in stereoscopic 3-D.
Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey Jr., Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, and Scarlett Johansson.

First Marmaduke Teaser Trailer
The next iconic comic character to leap off of the printed page and onto the big screen is not some super-powered wonder, but rather a Great Dane with an inclination for incidental mayhem. Director Tom Dey (Failure to Launch) brings the classic comic strip Marmaduke to life in a live-action/CGI hybrid that sees Marmaduke (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his family relocating from Kansas to California. The new teaser trailer is light on content, but it sets the tone for what is sure to be family-friendly entertainment. The Marmaduke comic strip was created by Brad Anderson in 1954 and is still being published today.

New Red Band Kick-Ass Clip Features Hit Girl
21 hours ago
If the idea of a 10-year-old girl with no superpowers fighting crime sounds ridiculous to you, reserve judgment until you see Hit Girl in action in this new Rated-r clip for Kick-Ass, director Matthew Vaughn's big screen adaptation of the comic book by Mark Millar. Not only does Hit Girl (played by Chloe Moretz) have mad hand-to-hand combat skills and a talent for gunplay, her dirty mouth is also powerful enough to make a sailor blush. Hit Girl may just dethrone Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama), the chain-wielding school girl/assassin from Kill Bill, as the baddest girl at the Cineplex.
Kick-Ass also stars Aaron Johnson as Dave "Kick-Ass" Lizewski, Nicolas Cage as Damon "Big Daddy" Macready, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris "Red Mist" D'Amico.

Mike Judge's Next Movie to Star Chris Elliot in India?
Extract and Office Space director Mike Judge isn't sure what his next directing project will be, but he told ComingSoon that he'd like to develop an idea he has for a comedy starring Chris Elliot.
[H]e moves to India to do a Bollywood movie and ends up working tech support. I'm a big Chris Elliot fan. Hollywood always tends to just think young, but when I was 17, Rodney Dangerfield was all the rage and he was pushing 50. Caddyshack was just like, we couldn't get enough ... I think there's people around like that, like Chris Elliot, that are just plain funny. He could read the phonebook and it's funny.
Judge has also been working on the script for a comedy entitled Trophy Husbands about college graduates who coach a youth football league.

5 Actresses Up For Green Lantern Role
A casting notice including Green Lantern's love interest Carol Ferris was found in September, and it appears that Warner Brothers has narrowed its selection to five actresses. According to Latino Review, either Eva Green (Casino Royale), Keri Russell (Mission Impossible III), Jennifer Garner (Elektra), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), or Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) will play the part.
Our thoughts: Garner is certainly no stranger to comic book movie fans, but Elektra left a lot to be desired, while Russell provided the voice of Wonder Woman in the animated movie Warners and DC released this year. Kruger had a star-making turn in Basterds, while Lively seems ... largely out of place here. Green may have the upper hand considering that she worked with director Martin Campbell before on Casino Royale. Still, the casting will likely be contingent on how the ladies match up with Ryan Reynolds.
Which actress do you think should get the role? …

Leonard Maltin's Top Hidden Gems of the Past Decade
21 December 2009 11:09 AM, PST
No one knows movies like Leonard Maltin. As the decade winds down, we asked him to name his favorite hidden gems from the past 10 years. As he put things: I've never been a fan of "10 best" lists; they're too arbitrary for my taste. And besides, if there were only 10 outstanding hidden gems over the past decade I wouldn't have nearly enough material to fill my weekly show, Secret's Out. So let's refer to these as "10 Really Good Movies of the Past Decade" or "10 Hidden Gems You Really Ought to See." That way I'll have less guilt about the titles I had to leave out!
Check out Maltin's full list here, and check back every weekday through Jan. 1 for another 10 movies that made the ReelzChannel 100.

Danny Trejo Explains Machete's Origins
21 December 2009 7:06 AM, PST
Many people think that the idea behind making Robert Rodriguez's upcoming Machete came from its inclusion as a faux-trailer in the Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse. However, Danny Trejo told ComingSoon that in fact the movie evolved from many years of planning.
Everybody thinks that Machete came out of a trailer, but it didn't. Robert told me he wanted to do this movie called Machete when we were doing Desperado and that if you look at the character in Machete, he kind of molded this character Machete ... Machete kicks a**. [laughs] It is a culmination of Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico ... I think there's even a little bit of From Dusk Till Dawn in there.
I think it's going to be one of his best. I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm the lead in it, but it's just a great movie. I think everybody's going to …

Guy Ritchie Talks Sherlock Holmes
21 December 2009 6:58 AM, PST
Sherlock Holmes looks poised to find huge success when its opens December 25. This could mean big things for director Guy Ritchie, who is working with his biggest budget yet. Ritchie told ComingSoon, however, that budget doesn't matter.
I mean, zeroes is zeroes, right? I've found them less intimidating as I've gotten older, if it's a million or 10 million or 100 million, I'm not sure if the pressure feels any different. You just seem to have more friends when it's 100 million. I suppose in that sense you have a greater responsibility, but then you have greater muscularity too, but the studio was very supportive in what they saw as a filmmaker's idea, a filmmaker's film. There was never any, "Oh, we'd like a bit more of this or we'd like a bit more of that." The studio pretty much let us get on with it and they encouraged what otherwise they might've traditionally shied away from. …

No Venom in Topher Grace's Future
21 December 2009 3:00 AM, PST
It was revealed in October that plans for a Venom movie spinning off of the Marvel Comics villain featured in Spider-Man 3 were moving forward, with Spider-Man 4 screenwriter Gary Ross doing rewrites and possibly directing the picture. Apparently, the spin-off will not involve the only actor to ever portray the popular comic book villain on the big screen, Topher Grace.
In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Grace seemed unsure of how to answer questions about the Venom movie. When asked if he was interested in returning to the role (even though his character apparently died at the end of Spider-Man 3), Grace said, "You know, I guess." He went on to say that he hadn't "heard anything" from Sony about the project. When asked to clarify whether or not he had any current plans to appear in a Venom spin-off, Grace conceded, "No, I don't think so."

New Toy Story 3 Clip

Disney has released a new "first look" clip for the still-in-production Toy Story 3 with an introduction from director Lee Unkrich. In the clip, we learn that Andy is heading off to college and his mother wants him to either get rid of his toys or store them in the attic. Of course, this news sends the toys into a panic, especially when Andy decides to save Woody, but not Buzz Lightyear or the rest of the crew.

Robert Rodriguez "Can't Say No" to Sin City 2
21 December 2009 2:42 AM, PST
Talk of a Sin City sequel began almost immediately after the movie opened. Having earned nearly quadruple what it cost to make, and with plenty more Sin City stories by creator Frank Miller to draw on, a sequel almost seemed inevitable.
Actor Clive Owen dropped some encouraging news back in September when he said that a "good source" informed him that Sin City 2 could begin filming as early as next year. Now, in a recent interview, director Robert Rodriguez said that he might be directing the sequel in the near future.
I know Frank wants to do it, I know I wanna do it, and its always sort of [a] time-permitting kind of thing, but it's not like I can tell you definitely we're starting ... it's not my next picture ... I know that. Doesn't mean that it's not the picture right after [that] because that's still a possibility.
Rodriguez said that …
