Cast Announced For Brothers Keeper

Patricia Clarkson, Danny Glover, Devon Graye, Madeleine Martin, and WWE wrestling champ John Cena have joined the cast of WWE Studio’s upcoming film “Brother’s Keeper”. Mel Damski is directing from John Posey’s script about a young unathletic teenager who joins the local school wrestling team in order to reunite his mother and estranged older brother, a decade after the death of his father, a local college wrestling legend. WWE Studios vp David Calloway, the WWE Studios vice president, is producing the project, with WWE execs Mike Pavone and Steve Barnett onboard as executive producers for “Brother’s Keeper”. The Hunter Headed For The Big Screen

Reports are coming out that Scarlet Fire Entertainment is set to produce a big-screen adaptation of “The Hunter”, the Dare Comics comic book from Adam Hamdy. Hamdy will adapt his work into the screenplay, which will be an original Hunter story. The 2007 book is a superhero-oriented comic that is set against a world of organized crime and global terrorism. Hamdy will produce along with Scarlet Fire’s Steven Pearl and Allan Loeb. New Line Picks Up Nutcracker Reimagining

New Line has picked up a pitch for a radically re-imagined version of the classic “The Nutcracker And The Mouse King” from writer Darren Lemke. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment are producing the project, which puts the story in a more fantasy/action-adventure setting. Best known for Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky’s 1892 ballet adaptation, “Nutcracker” was actually written E.T.A. Hoffmann in 1816. The story is about a 12-year-old girl who is given a nutcracker doll by her grandfather one Christmas eve. Summit Developing Vlad Another Vampire Pic

The production company behind “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”, Summit Entertainment is developing “Vlad”, an action-oriented take on the early years of the infamous real-life Dracula, Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia. Also known as Vlad The Impaler, he ruled from 1456 to 1462 and was reknowned for his brutality against the Ottoman Empire as well as the local nobles who had plotted against him before he came to power. Vlad’s bloody legend was the basis of author Bram Stoker’s story “Dracula”. Brad Pitt is attached to the project, and will be producing with Ded Gardner through Plan B Entertainment.
